Electronic Suspension

I was wondering why all the electronic suspension applications (Ducati & BMW) currently don't adjust spring preload automatically. This is actually the only thing that needs adjusting usually on a street bike once the suspension is properly setup. This seems pretty easy to do, a position sensor on the forks and shock and stepped motors in the preload adjusts.

That would really make electronic suspension more than a gimmick. Hop on the bike with your favorite two-up, it adjusts. Carrying some extra stuff in the saddle bags, it adjusts. You have a big meal at the steak house, it adjusts.

When are we going to see this?

One would think with all the added electronics it would get a lot heavier. Would be nice however to just hop on and ride and let it adjust for you.
