This is why trucks should NOT be allowed on the dragon.

Imagine meeting this thing when this is going on

The guy that had to drop his bike is a friend of mine. He sent that pic to the trucking company, needless to say they are paying all of his damages.

Still dosent change the fact they need to stay off the Gap.

wow.... I would be really surprised they are going to pay for the damages. I figured you would be hard pressed them to even get them to lift a finger..

I spoke to their insurance company today and I am supposed to have a check for the damages next week to order James' parts.

Glad to hear that they are paying for your buddies ride to be fixed. I think that they shouldn't be allowed and usually they have a escort vehicle too.

When I was heading back to the gap to pick up my bags Tuesday around noon there was a FedX semi coming down the dragon about 4 miles from the gap.
It's crazy and very dangerous for them to be riding that road. They should be outlawed!

Ya - We (GSXtacy, GSXcite, and I) ran into the truck!

Here's a clip from the video that I was shooting:

Clicky Linky

We see and hear the guys on the side yell, "TRUCK!" We slowed down only to see a pickup on the side...so we picked up the pace until....

These clips and videos should be sent to the local LEO's and the media just so everyone will know what is going on there. That is unbelievable, someone could definitly get killed. Semi's should not be allowed.

I just realized, Dills gap or not (i'm not sure thou...) when I was moving from Dallas, TX. to Raleigh, NC...cuz of too much rain, I40 was closed, for a week or they not sure for yet...
So, I was stuck up around right before, Smoky mountain area...I didn't know what to do...with 26 footer with trailed my beemer was in the back of it...(Iwas riding with my old parents, and they just lookin at my face) I know I can't spend a week, out of nowhere like that

...
then there is a trooper pulled in for donut or some coffee...so I askem what to do? and he looked me and my parents? and, its not illigal to drive thru the smoky mountain but, you will get into trouble
if LE sees you up there...but I'll give you my card and my numbers incase if they stop you show them and explain whats going on, they'll let you go...sounds pretty good...
biggrin.gif
wasn't it...
So, I took off, and I drove thru the whole mountain, like 30~35 mph and I saw abunch of cager was all pissed, and just following

theres nothing I can do...at that moment...
tounge.gif

BTW, when I got the top of the mountain, there was a big parking area was there, so I let everyone go first and I left....no one pulled me over anyway...

So, in that area, local LE has a sometype of regulation is there...I believe, but I wasn't sure that was the dills gap or not nor commercial trailers are different from out of state family movers.
Doesn't matter where ever you are, you can't be too much careful...I say, Karma...

This is why you will not see me ride there, between that, the amount of hopped up sport car clubs and knuckle heads in general packing the roads there...It just isn't worth the risk in my opinion.

I doubt the trucking company will do a thing either, but hopefully they do step up and make it right.

If you were in a car you would be screwed. if you were on a motorcycle cuting it up, you would be screwed big time
