He should’ve come down with something and had the debate postponed. I don’t however believe he’s in the midst of dementia. I’m old and I’ve interacted with many older people. Several exhibit similar tendencies. Doesn’t mean they’re (past it) mentally. Even harder than the actual debate would’ve been the cramming of up to date talking points he was tasked to remember. I hated cramming for exams, oral or written or performance. I believe him when he said he knows how to do the job.
