Damaged clutch basket?

I was told that if the springs on the large "outer" basket (the biggest piece with the large gear on the back) rattle, the basket is damaged. all my springs but one are loose, or rattle. does this mean its damaged? are all the sideways springs supposed to be tight? I tried to pull the basket out, but the gear hit the engine casing stopping it.
Does this basket come off of the gear somehow without taking the motor apart?

You never had a clutch out before?
Yes the basket comes out but you have to remove the inner bushing and bearing.
FYI;
they come new from out of a box with rattling springs.
Don't forget if you tried to pull it that you line the oil pump gear up or you will damage something
