The holes don't match up when you go to put the cap back on. How did you guys accomplish this?

No problem, always glad to help another member. And if someone that has this mod could get to a dyno I would love to see what gains if any and what it does with the A/F.

Unless you modify or remove the tock cat or exhaust headers, there will be no performance gain other than the slight weight reduction. This mod will not effect the A/F what so ever.

But on my personal set I removed everything, basically gutting the cans totally, would that do something?

They just look like shorter versions of the same old hideous stock cans. Nice work, but I still think they are ugly :(.

The restriction in the exhaust system is due to the stock cats, unless you gutted the cats, there will be virtually no difference in the exhaust flow. Anything you do to the muffler section will only do 3 things, 1. Change (less noise reduction) the exhaust sound, 2. Change the appearance of the bike, 3. Reduce the total weight of the exhaust (this is the only thing that will effect performance but can not be measured on the dyno).
I have a set of shorty slip-on, had dyno's done before and after, it's essentially an 8" straight pipe in place of the stock rocket launchers. There is no difference what so ever.

i used 3 1/4" threaded rods and drilled them through the entire can and end cap in a "triangle type formation". a little thread lock on the nuts under flange and chrome end cap and that's a wrap for me. the weight reduction is like night/day, the looks are awesome to me, and the sound is much better over stock! credit to freponyryd as well who walked me through the process.
