Good video here:

The last three digits in the parts number is the paint code:

Is the placement of the spacers the same on a Gen2?
Mine have always been big silver part on top

Page 4, Step 3, silver spacers (3).

I wonder why Suzuki didn’t use the smaller spacers used with the cowl and simply add a cylindrical spacer when the grab bar and pillion seat are used.

Omg this guy just took the entire tail section off to replace the spacers lol
The instructions are definite missing a few details in Step 3.

The plastic is firmly attached to the frame with four fasteners:

Before you can slide the plastic back, you have to pull the nipple out from the rubber grommet on each side.

I’m not sure there are any major shortcuts vs. what’s presented in the video as the spacers are sandwiched between the plastic and metal cross member where the pillion/cowl locks in place.

The spacers only differ by 11mm and as I posted earlier you could safety stack an 11mm spacer within the grab handle bushing in order to reattach the grab handle.

The pillion seat simply swaps with the cowl after you change the 2 spacers. They are M8 and 16mm OD.

The grab handle and bigger bolts and spacers weighs slightly more than 1000g.

That's only if you want the grab bar like on all Gen's. For just the seat to cowl swap there is no change, it takes 5-seconds like always.
I suppose if you want the grab handle just cut down some round bar to the two sizes, drill them out. Then you can drop them in from the top when you change over

Yes.

I bought it brand new in Corpus Christy, TX during a road trip while I was still on the waiting list in Austin, TX.

I almost went passed by the dealership but was sure glad that I changed my mind and went in.

I was wondering how I’d get it home when the service manager was kind enough to offer to load it onto his pickup and deliver it for free as he was visiting his girlfriend in Austin a couple of weeks later.

I haven’t modified it too much since I bought it:

- zero gravity double bubble (smoke)
- frame crash protectors
- throttle rocker
- wider pegs
- NWS rear hugger
- Bridgestone Battlax S20 EVO’s

I also cut the license plate tail to the bottom of the license plate for looks.

I recall that I fiddled with a lot of different H4 bulbs back them and after too many burned out I went back to stock and now find the lights quite yellow compared to the whitish color of the Busa’s LEDs.

Upcoming work and parts on hand:

- radiator flush and oil/filter change
- replace F/R brake pads (EBC EPFA)
- upgrade brake lines to Spiegler USA
- check fuel filter
- ultrasonic clean injectors

Hoping to get to a few track days in 2022.

Bummer... I broke the 2 end latches which I doubt can be fixed using superglue. Any ideas?

What "latches" ???...There are four pushpins under the front edges, four pushpins for the center section that joins the sides behind the seat, four Allen head screws, four allen heads that hold the grab rail, two Phillips head screws, four slotted sections in the rear of the tail, two rubber press-in pins on the very front of the tail section, and two catches under the rear on the tail light.

What latches ?.
