Congressman John Murtha dead...

i guess im missing the "he went against his own"
look up his quotes about Haditha, kind of tried and convicted his fellow marines without knowing a damn thing, called them murderers and rapists if I recall

Zella all of them have put their foot in their mouth at one point in time or another.
Cant be in front of a mic 24/7 for 30yrs and not...

The vid I posted of him rippin McCain is prime example.
McCain wished he had never said or done that.
They all mess up once in a while.

Yes, smack is impolite, but retrospective criticism is not. No one should celebrate any ones death. One day all of us will be at that place.

I agree, I guess I could have left off the 'hey hey hey, goodbye' part, been hanging out on Democratic Underground too much, picked up some disgusting habits:laugh:

Just another over the hill congressman that died.:beerchug: I don't get it, most people do not want 70 or 80 year people to do anything? But they expect them to run the country.

foot in mouth , knife in back its all the same because i dont really think many of THEM care about many of US.
Republicans and Democrats alike have done things in my book that would have gotten your demo taken away and had you escorted off the lot...

the reason Murtha was beloved by his constituents is obvious and easy...

his nickname.....

Murtha, King of Pork, PA...

the man POURED pork money into his state... he was known for it... he brought lots of money to his people... and they loved him for it..

This why he was elected over and over, he was doing his job.

Mr Brown I think his constituents were dedicated to him because of his own dedication to himself. They voted for and followed him for his truth. He never waiver or waffled like a typical liberal. Was always true to his words and thoughts. Thats why as a republican I admired him because I knew exactly what I faced.
Ask him a question and get an answer. A month later answer will be same.
May not be what I would have wanted to hear but at least you knew where he stood.
Cant say that for folks like , Pelosi, Schumer, and the other liberals.
I agree. Waffling is not limited to the left however. Not saying the man never made an error or mis-spoke, he obviously did, but he had his convictions, was elected on them, and stuck to them. Agree with them or not, as you said he was to be commended for that.

RIP, but their politics sucked!

Where does it say you have to be in that district to disapprove of their political
activities...if he's or whoever, is spending and stealing TAXPAYER money
that affects us all...:wtf:

Kennedy was a POS, just because Mass. was stupid enough to be in Kennedy
love fest and continue to re-elect does not speak for the moral character of
the man...:banghead:

What a complete bummer. How in the world can they not have treated the infection ?
A simple non invasive procedure nicks his intestines and 2 days later hes done ?
Went to ER and they could not do anything ?

Man that sucks.

Can you say LAWSUIT ?

Yes, he was dedicated to his people. I hope they find a replacement a little more centered.
Centered would be good...

And the milk was better than I expected. Thanks.
Happy cows come from California, right?

Where in Illinois are you?
I am from Palatine,
South end, Harrisburg, down by Carbondale
born in the drug store there.
That explains a lot.....:moon::lol:

This why he was elected over and over, he was doing his job.

So here's a question for you...and all of us.

As a United States Congressman...where do you loyalties lie first and what is acceptable?

By that I mean as an Amercian...is it O.K. to screw over the rest of the Nation
for the sole benifit of your tiny group of constituents?

It's like the Nebraska backroom deal in the healthcare bill...are we really saying
that's O.K. ??? And this is something Murtha has done time and again for the
last 40 years....shouldn't our leaders in washington be setting an example...and
if not...we've elected the wrong people.

Simple answer: an elected officials loyalty should be to the people he represents. Yes, members of congress should take care of the interests of their constituents before anybody else. Senators represent their states, and the President represents us all. That is how a representative democracy is supposed to function.

At the expense of the American people...See I disagree, you should be able
to serve the country AND your district or state...if they are in conflict than something else
is going on there...probably not on the up and up...like John Murtha Airport

What ever happened to doing what's right...

Congressmen are supposed to take care of their district, that's why there are so damn many of them. That's how the system works, from local government on up to the top. If the person representing your district sucks, replace them with someone that will fight for you. It's the senators job to take care of their state, and so on. That is what's right.......
