Carbon Fiber Dash Panels!

Does anyone know anything about these?

I have seen them before but can't find them when I need them. I would appreciate if you guys kept an eye out for me. Let me know if you see some.

Thanks,

Josh

OK I thnk I answered this not too long ago with the same non-commital link. But it sounds like this guy Ulen's Carbon fiber inners

Had some success and they do look freakin sweat. If your interested contact Safe-Tec and find out. I would but I have so many other money critical things going on right now that every Busa mod I had invisioned has been put low on the list...

Yeah, The prices are a bit prohibitive but I love the look. I need to figure out how to make my own.... :)

No personal experience with them but I remember seeing some negative feedback on them quite a while back. A member used them for $ reasons if I remember correctly and "got what he paid for".

Get with Nick (I think his member name is Gixx1300r... not sure, though. Post a thread pinging Nick and include "painted inners" in your title... Either he will pop his head up, or someone will give you his contact info... I would, but I just can't remember it.

Thanx BT....now that you mention that I do recall something about them just painting over the bumps instead of sanding them smooth....and then getting what ya pay for....

Yeah, that was it. Seems Nick preps different and makes them smooth. I think I prefer smooth if they are painted. I wish I had a spare set. I've got a paint idea to try but don't want to butcher my stock set to try it.

After I get a tank for my paint job I may start tryin' to piece together a set of inners to play with. I've got MANY ideas and just a few $$'s...

I've been researching this.      just waiting on a answer on production.

If Catalyst Composites dosen't come trough in time maybe we can get a large group buy together and go with Street and Track if they would offer a good discount. I would consider them, but I'm not sure of their quality and at $575 that can be an issue.

Still waiting on a reply from Catalyst Comp. they said they will make them just not sure how soon.

Let me know if you work out a group buy on the Street and Track ones because they would match my PIPE perfect!

Yeah guys that was me who was the unhappy camper when I dealt with RaceReady. When I received my painted inners from them, I called and asked the guy if they were clearcoated and he said "Yes!" I'm by no means a painter or a specialist, but I do know what has and has not been clearcoated. He also mentioned to me that I should be real careful on how I wash them. He told me not to use anything even slightly abrasive which further let me know that my inners weren't clearcoated. The color did match up well, but the texture in the inners were still there. I wound up having a friend of mine shoot me a couple coats of clear over them to just add a little protection to them. But my buddy, who is a painter, said that the paint job is only as good as the base that the paint sits on. That, I learned, is the 'golden rule' of painting. Once he clearcoated them, if I only slightly bent them, the paint would peel just like fingernail polish off of a woman's fingernail. Needless to say they were shot to hell after my accident in California during Laguna '03. After six months of being down (rehabbing a torn ACL, PCL, and LCL), I am finally back. My painter painted my inners, but this time he sanded them and added a filler to them. They actually shine better than the rest of the bike. I am so proud of the work he has done for me so far. I also replaced the little black edge pieces with some chrome door-edge protector. This really looks good and goes well with the silver/grey color scheme. I will post pics as soon as the weather clears up here. I really said all that to say that if you really want to be happy, you should go with the painted inners by Nick Smith (Gixx1300). He does some real nice work, and he also does painted mirrors also. If I remember correctly, he charges $125 for mirrors and $300 for inners. He will also do custom designs (i.e. kanji) if you ask on the mirrors.

Here is a pic of my bike before the accident...
