I have a number of Dell techs stopping by my labs next week to swap out 150 motherboards with bad capacitors. It should be fun.

Hmmm GX-270s? The early ones have not been a problem but we have seen about 10x that on the newer 270s. Make them change all the you have or at least give you an extra 10 to keep on hand. The ones with the X code on the capacitor are the bad lot.

Not to hijack the thread, but, yeah, the nichicon caps are the bad ones. We are swapping them all out. badcaps.com has lots of interesting info on the problem.

Check out the Dell outlet store if they still have one on the plant grounds. Haven't been there in 10 years but they had some decent deals then.
