Busa verses zx-14 comparo....

The 14 barely beat the Busa??!!! I guess I shouldn't be too worried when my Piped, Airbox modded, PC and desrestricted Busa comes across a 13.5

its close enough that it all depends on the rider... and i am glad that the kawi beat it, suzuki will try even harder to out perform it, without the zx-14 we would prob have the same old busa a few more years, now we will get something new and better!

Hmmm an ass whoopin from a bike with a factory bore kit pushing out 35 more HP and a lot more torque. Like bragging about a mustang cobra beating a pinto. I mean it doesn't bother me that KAW has won the title I mean hats off to them. But to be bragging that with all that power this was the best they could do against a 7 year old motorcycle and let alone to call it an ass whoopin? Come on now.

I have a feeling I'll be hearing more excuses now that there is some proof. Don't make excuses. Just except it. If you want the baddest MFer out there, buy the ZX. If you like what you got, keep it. Thats okay man I was simply stating facts. If your that proud of that little bit of difference then you go right ahead and consider that an "ass whoopin". Now when Suzuki reworks the Busa and hands that little George Foreman grill on wheels its butt back to it I don't wanna hear any crap. I was mearly pointing out the fact that everyone always wants to take shots at the Busa simply because they have Busa hate and I think your one of them. Now if I had a Brand new redesigned Busa and that Kawi had been the speed champ for 7 years and the tables were turned.....I would say this. "Well I took the win but I have to give credit to Kawasaki. For a bike as old as it is to come so close to me thats impressive." But I guess some people just wanna disrespect things just out of jealousy. So yes I guess in that case you are right. The Busa is just a slow 155 Hp bike that held the speed title for seven years and now even 600s are quicker. We should all go run and hide.

here's a sobering thought... perhaps KAW is holdign back the 13.5's tuning, until a year AFTER a New Busa is released. then they could put a smack down on SUZ the next year with even BETTER numbers and actually HOLD the title. Think about it. if they can squeak busa power out of a 10r and 12r, they can get 14.5 out of thier 13.5.... hmmmmmmm

I'm glad cause I get tired of people assuming that I bought a busa cause it is the baddest fastest bike out there. Now they might believe me when I say I love the looks power and feel of the busa and that all I wanted was the BADDEST bike out there not necessarily the "fastest"

I don't post often but this tpic is all BS, and I'm wondering if the little neighbohood creep is just that a creep previously known as 12. AT the DC Cycle World show I spent a lot of time with the Kawi rep who admitted that the factory had not released the weight or horsepower to the reps for the show. He also said that the bikes at the show were pre-production and did not have everything "on" the bike so the seemingly light weight is/was deceiving. I'll admit from the cutaway bike it appears Kawi may have a less top heavy bike as most of the fuel will be under the seat the tank being the airbox cover. He also said no bikes would be on sale till March so this test is either another hoax or is a "stock pre-production ringer".
After reeding this topic and another above it by Cecil Stringer I called 2 local (Wash. DC area) dealers and they both advised that no one is going to be getting any 14's until mid-March as Kawi has put a short "hold" on production. This info was at 4pm 02-17-06, so I for one will be waiting on a real test by a real mag like Cycle World or Motorcyclist not some BS secret test. Even if the 14 does win which it should I'll still stick with my 05 Busa at least untill the new 14 KILLER BUSA comes out.

Good article, however, I would like to see some numbers that would really show the capabilities of the 13.5, such as how many burgers can you cook at once, estimated cooking times, ease of cleanup after the meal, etc. If your going to compare, lets get to the meat of it.

What I haven't heard yet is HOW IS THE MOTORCYCLE.  Yea, it is a little bit faster.  Dam, I HOPE it is...7 years more technology, more cc's.  I sure hope it is faster!!

But here is the fact folks.  Most of us do NOT live at the dragstrip.  How will the ZX14 stack up against the Bus as a motorcycle...an every day rider.  If Gadsons #'s are acurate, .146 difference in the quarter mile isn't a ton.  A good rider on a Busa will still take an average ZX14 rider, or at least stay right with him.

What is the 14 like to LIVE with?  That is what I want to know..I know it'll be fast.

Racetrack #'s are great....if that is all you do.

Had the 14 been available when I was shopping..it would have been an option. But for me, right now.....I see no reason to change. I love my bike. It does everything I want to do. Quickly.
