Don't forget these BT016 came in very close second in the Sport Rider Tire test (behind the PP2CT) so they must be something of a good tire.

I love the neutral feel and feedback on the BT-015s, and am pushing 6000 miles on the rear (still not into the treadwear indicators yet). I'm a bit hesitant to try another "mileage" tire because of the feel the 15s have, but at the same time gettin' more miles out of the tires would be nice as well. The 15s remind me of the Diablos on my 10R, so me thinx I would like the 16s as well.

From what I can see in the pictures there is good tread in the middle?

It looks like most of your ridding is cornering? For those whom use their bike for day to day commuting I am guessing they would many more miles?

Are these the tires with the harder compond in the middle and softer on the edges?

Yes and yes. Someone doing primarily straight line riding and cruising will get more out of the tire, and yes, it's the tripple compound rear/dual compund front.

The tires did their job...what the rider was thinking

Reminds me of another org member who put on a fresh set of Avon Vipers...then went on a extended ride (5-6k miles)...BAD CHOICE for a long trip...great tire for the twisties or a track day (Viper)

They were Viper Sports, not Super Sports, and I only expected about 4500 out of them. The center was thin as leather at 3300 on both the front and rear. And the BT016 still feels better in the corners than the Viper Sport.

Live and learn.

The BT016 is still the best all around street tire I have ridden on so far.

After I just loaded my bike, I see that I do have significant material above the wear indicators on my 2 CT's BUT my gross veh weight is so high now, I'm getting paranoid!

I agree...they're definitely a good tire! Just not what I had anticipated.

When I talked to the parts guy when I mounted my last set of rim protectors he said the Busa guys love them- 016's. I asked how do they wear on the sides? Due to the fact that the soft compound wraps much further from the edge. His replay was that most Busa guys don't ride the twisties as much as you. In a straight line they wear great. I had a feeling the sides would go rapidly on the 16's with a regular twisty diet. They are a lot cheaper than PP2 CT's.

All I have to add is that some people think they push a tire hard and then there are those that do. Hence, the great dispairity in different peoples preception of tire performance and durability.

I just ordered a set of 16's looking for something that leans faster than the stock 15's , I got ~4,000 each out of two sets of OEM (Gen2). Profile seems less flat than the OEM, more like the PP's. No slab work for me here, I avoid I80. Plenty of nice 3D roads though

Just checked and mine are made in Japan.
I got them from my dealer.
Are you thinking there is someone making knock-offs?
If so wouldn't they just mold the Made in Japan on the knock-off?

ther not knock offs, they are made for dunlop in japan (qualifiers). the tread pattern is a little different on the rear tire and alot different on the front. its basically an OEM tire. dont really understand why this is done but the tires are different, well the dunlops are, i dont really know anything about the BT-016. was just a thought.

They do make a BT016 for the Zx10 OEM.
It is a little different (tread width and overall dia).

They do make OEM tires with the same name that are different.

I had a brand new set of 016's for my first trackday, and here's what they looked like:

and this is the front:

And they held really well. I think you can even see the different bands of rubber on the front tire.

Now, that was 2 months ago. I've still go them on my bike, and have a brand new set to take with me to Barber if I need them changed. Tufbusa highly recommends the 016s and I greatly value his advice and experience.

That Avon Storm is an excellent high-mileage tire with good grip - Pashnit loves them.

WOW! Saw this thread so late. Lamb can't believe you got cold tear at 3,500 miles. 3500 miles is unacceptable mileage for cold tear. With all the center tread available, the edges should have never worn out like that at that little mileage. On another note, Bridgestones do "snot up" awesome. For the record, Lamb is the one that recommended the 016's to Scar. In fact, they are the tire going on "missile" for the stampede. Maybe this should be rethought. hmmmmmm!

Lamb: If this is what you can expect from the 016's, I'd go something a little higher on the scale.
