Bogs down when I go in to third gear

Me and the guys rides up to Wilmington N.C. to the Azalea Festival and on our way back , we rip in to it and then get out of it. So one of the young cats with the grand wants to check me so I go down to third and rips in to it and it bogs down on me, but no other gear does that.
