Hey guys, Im headed to the track this weekend. What I want to know is whats the best way to tie the bike down. What do you guys use as tie down points. Im just going for the days test n tune and dont want to bring the toyhauler. So, Im gonna use a utility trailer. I dont want to scratch or damage the bike so any help, or pics would be great. The back seems pretty straight forward, its the front that concerns me most. Ive done my harleys but theres no fairings to deal with.

What mounting points does the trailer have?

Well, Im not gonna have a chock between now and tomorrow. Its also not my trailer. I plan to tie the rear by the pass pegs. Like I said, its the front, and its bodywork that concerns me most. Can I go under to the lower triple tree? Someone must have experience with this. I dont have that fancy handlebar strap deal, just a box of ratchet straps.

Tie down the front to the lower tripple clamp. Make sure to stay outside of the brake lines on the right. Depending where the tie downs are on the trailer, you may need to tie the straps to the rails or each other to keep the straps from rubbing against the fairings or fender. This picture isn't the greatest, but you should get the idea.

where ever the strap touches the fairing, just tie a rag around the strap.

Securing Your Bike For Transport - TraileringTips - Motorcycle Cruiser Magazine

There is a post on here somewhere that deals with tying down a bike for transport. I haul in my truck and secure both front and rear in accordance with the 45 degree rule. Once I cinch the bike down it will not move, up down, forward or backwards. Getting ready to load up and head for Monterey and will post up some pictures. Trailering should work the same way, you want to secure it with rachets on the front and cam type on the rear. You want to ratchet it down down tight so that when hauling there is no play in the suspension when you hit bumps. The 45 degree rule takes care of any sudden stops or acceleration away from a stop. I secure my front straps to the fork tubes just below the triple clamp and they clear both the brake lines, fairing and fender. Good luck with your trailering.
