Looks like a pretty good modular at a great price (on sale for 110 @ cyclegear). Bell has always been a good helmet and this discount pricing puts it right in my Bros budget. Checked reviews and it sounds good, just wanted to check some owners input.

This doesn't answer your question, but it's something to think about...

I had one ordered last week. When I called to see why it was taking so long to ship, the store said that all of the Revolvers they had received in a large shipment were defective and unsafe, so they had to be returned to Bell. The store also said that that model would no longer be available through them after the bad shipment. If Bell's quality control can let an entire batch of "defective" and "unsafe" helmets out for sale, then I don't think they're ready for my business. A piece of gear as vitally important as a motorcycle helmet deserves top notch care and control in the manufacturing process.

I bought an HJC helmet for $150 and in my opinion it was the worst helmet i've ever worn. The fitment, venting, and noise were all just rediculous. I haven't spent under $500 for a helmet since and i've had no issues at all. Keep an eye out for good sales and something will come up, but, if that's all he can afford i'd give it a shot anyway. Then tell him to save up and buy a better helmet to protect what's important

Whoa, you just floored me ChattanoogaBusa! That info. didn't come up in my searches. I guess it is/was Bells first attempt at a modular and I guess it's safe to say they failed. I've been a Star fan for years but the heat and traffic got me looking at modulars and I chose a Shark Evoline2. It's a well functioning helmet that fits a bit tighter than a Star, but the Revolver was about a 1/4 of the price and within Bros budget.

I know what you mean Coast to Coast, I've always spent a bit on a lid, but some of the cheaper lines get some pretty decent reviews and it makes me wonder if I'm being robbed. I had a Scorpion 3/4 that wasn't a bad lid at all. It had a full shield along with a retractable sun shield built in and ventilation was OK, I just wasn't comfortable in a 3/4 and gave it to him.

Back to helmet searching!:banghead:

If your looking for a flip up, try Nolan, they have been doing it for a while and their prices aren't as bad as others.

Revolver is getting hard to pass up, $79.99 @ motorcycle superstore. Whatever their being pulled for, its got to be better than a 3/4 right? At that price he'll have a good lid while he saves for a better one.

I've never been able to buy helmets on line - I can barely sort it out in a store. Plus - What seems to be just right in the store turns out to be a disaster on the road. I never know what helmet I'll like until I've worn it on the road for some time. I have different lids to match different motorcycles and riding situations. I've had good and bad helmets in every price range - Go figure... :banghead::banghead::banghead:

Well he got home and went online to buy it and it's back to $109. Knowing what he knows now, he doesn't wanna give more than $80 for it. He still has the 3/4 to wear.

I just hate paying the MSRP that my locals offer, I even have a Cycle Gear nearby that's no better than reputable online sellers. So I'll fit a lid there, note the price, check online, give the local a chance to come close and they tell me to buy online and so I do. Some offer returns on lids within a time period, but I've done alright and haven't tried that. He has limited dealers where he lives and they don't stock many lids so he doesn't have much other choice.

The Shoei Multitec is also one of the helmets you should consider.

Thanks, it's a nice one alright but out of his budget right now. If your in that range, check the Shark Evoline2. The jaw flips behind the helmet and becomes a 3/4 with no drag. I've run beyond highway speeds in 3/4 mode with no imbalance or head bobbing. Thats what has his interest in a modular and wishes to own one like mine by summer.

I grabbed a Revolver myself for the Riding school here in Vegas, I have to admit I like the modular helmets but mine sucked at highway speeds. I have a big head but since then I got a SHOEI and a V Rossi replica from AGV and love them both.

The AGV was way cheaper than the SHOEI and far lighter which cuts down on fatigue during longer rides.

Your bro can grab one from Cycle Gear for not much more than the Bell (maybe a hundred or so more) its better than getting a lid that you will want to replace later in my opinion.

Just my two cents
