A huge thank you, more like many dozens of thank you’s, to the people who contribute to this site. If Suzuki or any suppliers are listening, this site is a prime reason I choose a Hayabusa out of the crowded field, and it’s the prime resource for deciding which maintenance and accessory items to buy.
Plus, the safety discussions are of immeasurable value in making me act slightly smarter on the street. Just two examples:
“Guys, please be REALLY careful with cold tires... the bike got away from me REALLY REALY quickâ€
Sure I watch Nascar and hear about slippery cold ties, but never made the mental connection to the first few, often exuberant, miles on the bike.
“Use rear brake only when on gravel or grass.†And “The rear is deadly if used to bleed speed. Going into a corner too hot and you're on the back brake? You're already in trouble..â€
I grew up on dirt bikes and loved to slide the rear around via rear brake but never thought about the difference with a 550 lb rocket, and maybe a passenger, on the pavement.
Last summer, I bought this ‘04 black/purple (4,400m w/some scrapes and dings) for $7,400. A friend spotted it with a for-sale sign at Quaker Steak & Lube on the Wednesday night gathering (often 300+ bikes). It’ll be there tonight, but not for sale. The plan was to experience the power for a few months and sell it, but it’s too much fun.
A re-model of the home diverted attention from posting, but the remodel’s done. Now it’s time to get back into drag racing, and hope to meet a few members at Sunshine or Bradenton (or QS&L).
