Not a whole hell of a lot twotone. Been dealing with the horrible Michigan summer this year, ended up riding half of the riding season with all the rain. Kids getting older, doin repairs to the house....same old stuff lol.

You do your readers a disservice by providing limited examples of “a while” usage. It doesn’t always have to be preceded by “for”; in fact, it often isn’t.
