Hi All

Has anyone had problems with their battery on the K8? Mine is 10 days old with 700 K's on the clock. I was out riding with mates today and when we stopped my bike was making a whistling noise and had a stong sulpur smell. Upon investigation I found steam coming from under the seat. The source of all this was the battery which was boiling.

As always when these things happen we were miles from anywhere and had no cellphone coverage. We ended up sitting the battery in a stream to cool it off and after an hour it was cool enough to put back in and ride to civilisation.

It will be back to the dealer when they open Monday. In the meantime what do people think the problem is - voltage regulator? Battery?

Has anyone else had this problem? If so what are the chances of any other electrical bits been damaged?

2 things can cause this.

Shorted plates in the battery or a faulty regulator.

I would be very concerned about the damage the acid venting is going to cause to your bike. It may not be obvious now but there will be damage and wile under warranty, I would be sure to be compensated for that.

I had a problem with my battery also, it lasted about 3 days. Had it replaced at the dealer and has worked fine since.

I had a problem with mine. Pulled it out and attempted to charge it, but the charger displayed bad cell code. Going back to dealer to get a new one

sounds to me like an over charge conditionyou should get the bike's electrical system checked.

I had had my bike for about a month and it got hot and would not start. I got to the dealer and they checked it out and said it was fine. I was out the other day and cut it off and it was like that again. I got it started but i think i am going to have to get another one also. I only have trouble when it gets hot. 75 or above temp. Good luck. Doug
