Astronomer Halton Arp proven right, the Big Bang never happened.
Connected galaxies have different redshifts.

Carl Sagan:
Halton Arp has found enigmatic and disturbing cases where a galaxy and a quasar, or a pair of galaxies, that are in apparent physical association have very different redshifts...."

Sagan continues, "If Arp is right, the exotic mechanisms proposed to explain the energy source of distant quasars -- supernova chain reactions, supermassive black holes and the like -- would prove unnecessary. Quasars need not then be very distant. But some other exotic mechanism will be required to explain the redshift. In either case, something very strange is going on in the depths of space."

??? Something strange indeed ???

*WHOOSH*....sorry that was the topic of this thread flying over my head

*runs off to Google Redshifts* ..................................................

I had redshifts once...took a whole bottle of Pepto to get rid of those.

Sorry Phil

Back to the Cosmos. I will go to the corner now.

That the Big Bang is BS is big science news.
thought it would be of some interest.
Very controversial a lot of heated debates. Big Bucks involved.:
but i'm biased: I was on a fencing team with Arp '57 to '61 here's an email
from Germany 2005:
<Dear Phil,

I play tennis these days. But those were great days when we were
fencing. Give Frank Andrina my best regards and tell him we are
making progress on cosmology - another 83 years and the Big Bang
will be laughed at.
Best Regards, Chip Arp

Ok.....

In layman's terms can you tell us what his belief is then? And what scientific proof he may have? Not questioning either theory as I have no experience w/ Cosmology. Just curious.

Just that 1st main discovery, two connected galaxies,Arp 271, NGC 5426,
Old one, and a new one. In an expanding (big bang) universe, the red shifts
would be the same. But they are different. Primary shots were at the Mt Wilson
and Palomar observatories. And took quite a while to get Hubble to verify.
Because of the controversies Arp lost his 'scope time at Wilson and Palomar and
had to go to Max Planck, institute in Garching, Germany to continue his career.
Also had a famous disagreement with great scientist Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar.
Arp says that the younger galaxy has a higher redshift because it is new. The
tech breakdown is complex, I could look it up in his book "Seeing Red". and I Googled
it the other day. Over my unqualified head. Just Google Halton Arp. all kinds of info.
He's a genius for real. Arp and Robert S McNamara are the smartest dudes I ever met.
There are some scientifico's on this site who are no slouches. I ride with a Physics Prof
Ken Kobus, who dropped out of Science because he could'nt take all the egos and BS
now he's a Beechcraft Bonanza specialist.
Scientists can get stuck in their precious Paradigms and go plum crazy if you
rattle their cages.

Interesting Phil. Your friend Arp sounded like a scientist w/ a different opinion. Unfortunately they have been known to be frowned upon in the science world. Doesn't make him wrong though.
Thanks for the poor mans explanation.

correct me if I am wrong but isnt that going to screw up a lot of stuff?

does that also affect the Doppler effect?

I can see it now, they will figure all this out and we will get hit by a massive gamma ray burst...

There are a lot of flaws in the Big Bang theory. They've been making up other theories to try to cover them for years.

True, not only frowned upon, but a lot of crazy hostility. The Big
Bang group is a well established bunch. Big funding involved. I'm
just waiting developments.

Have them expain the uniformity of the universe if you want a good laugh. It also amazes me that people who think its silly to believe in God have will not question someone telling them that there was something of unknown origin about a billion times smaller than the size of a single proton that expanded to form the universe.

Read it understand the basics lost me in technical:laugh: Kinda why I hate science they find a guy who refuses to think in the same way an they try an ruin him... Great to have people with the courage to stand up an strive to prove their theory's:beerchug: cause lets face it till we go there an get a better look theory is all you got looking at these massive things from so far away.
