I like the look of the power heads over the pump. I have a 55 Gal tank. Granted they're gonna cost more than a pump

My Neighbor has a pretty nice looking tank I will have to get a few shots and post them up it is a fresh water tank. I however have always enjoyed the salt water tanks more because the fish are always more colorful

both units have specific uses.. powerheads are typically used for water movement and an air pump is for 02 saturation.. You can "combine" to some extent and with an UGF system, you can use a powerhead on top of the stand tube with an air injector.. This will pull the flow through the filtration and aerate the water both... an extra air pump is always nice for backup and running little undewater toys...

My tank requires in excess of 2000Gph flow and so is done by an external pump (heat gain problems with wet pump) if you need pump numbers for the 55G tank PM me and I will send them over to you..

here is a link to my tanks and other projects... :) http://mytankpics.com/tanks/index.php?cat=10002

This is the tank I just took down in favor of a dedicated species tank (Anemone)

Bogus that is a great looking tank
thanks.. I have been a marine tank enthusiast/hobbiest for about 15 years.. most consuming hobby.. (maybe a bit $$ too) That tank was shot while pretty immature yet.. they need at least a year to stabilize..

I had about 300 gallons at one time and am now down to about 120G.. just ran out of free time to maintain the things..

this is a custom tank/stand I built for my new critters... :)

See that would be my problem if I got into something like that I would just drop crazy money into it and the wife would wind up killing me and put me in the back yard in that dog house for men

You can get in pretty cheap but any serious endeavor can EASY hit $100 a gallon.. Both tanks above are only about 1/2 the system.. there are sumps, protein skimmers, and LARGE circulation pumps housed under the stands and/or remotely.. You also run into issues with keeping the thing heated and cooled.. (the big tank has a chiller).. and then there is the "salt"

here are some of the guys I have in my current tank..
