kirk, a hand held garmin 12 locks top speed
so you can look at it when you stop and you will see you were only going around 187mph on the gps thats with stock gearing if you went bigger rear sprocket than mph is slower, smaller front sprocket mph is also slower. 205 mph on motorcycle speedo that would put you right around 10800 rpm on tach wich is 187 mph real word speed you still had a ways to go before limiter at 11300 rpm.
wich is around 196 mph rev limiter.
a garmin #12 is around $150.00

Animal what you saw at Daytona is about it. 6'1" 230 lb indecent. Buffeting minimal at 'slow' (upright to 140 indicated) speeds. And besides, $80 spent on a Busa is essentially free, isn't it? I ride so much at night that the next one will be clear, not smoke.
And Kirk; as far as the aero stuff they spent so much time perfecting, eliminating a whole exhaust can doesn't seem to affect the aeros at all. IMHO a screen a few inches higher won't either especially if the wind is buffeting the rider with the stock screen anyway.

Yeah, I'm willing to accept the part about the can(s), but the problem was not the shape of the windscreen, it was my initial inability to attain the correct body position to optimize the aerodynamics with the stock windscreen. It would be nice to see, though. I think my next one will be clear, or a lighter tint than stock.
