My 2000's era bag has given up (zipper failure) so I need a new one for my 2001 Busa.

I'm willing to spend good money for one that is compact but expands to around 20L. Suggestions? I don't use other luggage on rides so my full luggage budget is for the tank bag.

Thanks everyone (and yes I searched but all posts are at least a couple years old).

I've got a magnetic Core Tech, which I like. But, I seldom use it in the "extended" position as it holds my head in the wind blast above the windshield.

I recently added a tail bag and am delighted to, more or less, double the space for stuff.

Ask 5 people get 5 different answers. Tankbags are like oil and tire pressure. No wrong answer.

I have used strapped bags, magnetic bags, expandable bags, tall bags, Ventura Rack, soft (expandable) saddlebags, the only thing I have not used is hard saddlebags like Givi or Corbin. I never wanted the permanence of hard saddlebags. I'm in the Bagster camp like @BigBSBusa going on 20 years of use. Tried them all, this is where I ended up. Worst part is I still have every tank bag I've ever used, can't seem to throw them away. I've still got my 20 year old magnetic RKA bag. And even the Giant Loop strappy bag.

Bagster just simplifies travel on this bike. I think i have 3 or 4 Bagster tank bags too, big and small. My 7th bike with a Bagster setup.

Since you have a Gen1:

I do the same thing, if I lay my bag on a table I put a towel under it. I never lay it on a bare table or bench..

Viking Apex ADV Touring Tank Bag – Crafted from rugged 1680D ballistic nylon with a waterproof rain cover included, it holds about 7 L but expands (by using or removing the hydration pack) toward your ~20 L needs, plus it converts into a backpack and offers multiple compartments and MOLLE organization. You can check out here.

It’s compact when you want it, durable for your 2001 Busa, and falls within your budget if you're allocating the full luggage budget to this single tank bag.
