One of the reasons I didn't want to run the Mileage Challenge this year was because I wanted to start a Fantasy MotoGP. So Rich(BA BUSA) and I put our heads together and put together the format and rules for the game.

We're doing this for fun! There is a small entry fee, most of it goes to the podium finishers and the rest goes to PayPal fees/board donation. BA BUSA, MC MUSTANG, and I are doing this non-profit. For free

Unless of course one of us finishes on the podium

The next post will be the rules and format description. PLEASE, read it now and ask all your questions before it begins. There are no stupid questions.

The PayPal addy for entry fees is, mcmustang@hayabusa.org Read the rules and tell all your buddies. Because the more entrants we get, the bigger the winnings are for the top 3 winners!!

Have fun and good luck

All other riders are scored 0 pts.

Rule amendment #3-Distribution of prize money.

2 entrants tie for 1st place -- split 70% of entry money evenly.
3 entrants tie for 1st place -- split 80% of entry money evenly.
1 entrant wins 2nd place -- 20% of entry money.
2 entrants tie for 2nd place -- split 30% of entry money evenly.
1 entrant wins 3rd place -- 10% of entry money.
ONLY the 3 top teams win cash prizes.  The only 4 possible outcomes are;
1)  1 1st, 1 2nd, and 1 3rd.
2)  2 1st, and 1 2nd.
3)  1 1st, and 2 2nds.
4)  3 1st.

Rule amendment #4- Points awarded for breaking lap records.
The rider that breaks the fastest lap ever by a motorcycle is awarded 15pts.
The rider that breaks the fastest race lap ever is awarded 15pts.

Rule amendment #5- Riders must be classified by motogp.com to be awarded any points in QP to RAC position change.

Rule amendment #6- Sometimes riders will tie for QP to RAC position change. There are only 28 points awarded for gainers and only -28 points awarded for biggest losers. The examples below explain how those points are divided up amoung the tied racers. There are other possibilities, but the formula should be evident.
1 biggest gainer             16 pts
1 2nd biggest gainer       8pts
1 3rd biggest gainer        4pts
No other gainer points awarded.

2 biggest gainers tie each get 12 pts 16+8=24/2=12
Basically, you add 1st pts and 2nd gainer points then divide them between the 2 racers equally.
1 2nd biggest gainer      4pts
No other gainer points awarded.

2 biggest gainers tie each get 12 pts 16+8=24/2=12
Basically, you add 1st pts and 2nd gainer points then divide them between the 2 racers equally.
2 2nd biggest gainers tie each get 2 pts 4/2=2
Basically you take the 4 points and split it equally between the riders tied.
No other gainer points awarded.

1 biggest gainer       16pts.
2 2nd biggest gainers tie each get 6 points 8+4=12/2=6
Basically you take 2nd and 3rd place points add them together then split them equally between the tied racers.
No other gainer points awarded.

3 biggest gainers tie each get 9.3 pts 16+8+4=28/3=9.3
Basically you add 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gainer pts then divide them equally between the 3 racers.
If 4 or more racers tie for biggest gainer, you divide 28 by the number of riders tied for biggest gainer.
No other gainer points awarded.

1 biggest gainer          16pts
1 2nd biggest gainer     8pts
4 3rd biggest gainers   1pt each   4/4=1
Basically you take the 4 points remaining and divide it equally between the tied racers.
No other gainer points are awarded.

The same formula, different numbers though, is also applied to biggest position losers.

Rule amendment #7- There are 6 riders that nobody picked. Hopkins, Barros, Guintoli, Nakano, Pitt, and McWilliams. These riders are not considered when scoring QP to RAC position change, Fastest Lap, Highest Top Speed, Most Wins, and Most Podiums. In other words if Hopkins sets the fastest Lap and Rossi sets the 2nd fastest Lap, Rossi gets 15pts because Hopkins doesn't matter since nobody picked him.

Rule amendment #8

We are changing which riders are eligible for points in the QP to RAC position change category.

Before only the riders who were CLASSIFIED by MotoGP.com were eligible.
Now any rider that starts the race is eligible.

This amendment supercedes the previous amendment. This amendment was made because the spirit of this scoring category wasn't happening as intended. We noticed that riders who crashed out were given a bye, while riders who picked up their bikes and finished the race were penalized.

The previous 2 race's QP to RAC category will be rescored.

Rule amendment #9

For the "Most Races Won" and "Most Podiums Earned" categories;
In the event that 2 or more teams tie, the points will be divided evenly between the tied teams.

For example, if 5 teams tie for "Most Races Won", then 20pts divided by 5 teams = 4 points for each team.

Hayabusa.org members, BA BUSA(Rich) and I are starting a fantasy motoGP for the 2007 season. Entry fee will be $20.00. 20% of all the entry fees will go to PayPal fees and the .org for being the wonderful place that it is and to help out the Cap with some of the board costs. 50% of all the entry fees will go to 1st place. 20% to 2nd. 10% to 3rd. So only the top 3 finishers will receive a cash prize. 1st place goes to the entrant with the most points. 2nd place will go to the entrant with the 2nd highest points and 3rd place to the entrant with the 3rd highest points. If there is a tie between 2 or more entrants, the prize is split equally between the entrants. There will be no refunds. However you can give/sell your team to another hayabusa.org member if you are unable to continue playing or choose not to play.

Each entrant will choose a 6 rider team.  All motoGP riders will be classified into 3 groups.  A group for the best riders.  B group for the good riders.  And C group for the remaining riders.  Each entrant will choose 2 riders from each group, totaling 6 riders from 3 different groups.  Here is how the rider's groups break down;

A group

Valentino Rossi
Nicky Hayden
Loris Capirossi
Marco Melandri
Dani Pedrosa
Casey Stoner
John Hopkins

B group

Chris Vermeulen
Colin Edwards
Alex Barros
Shinya Nakano
Kenny Roberts
Toni Elias
Makoto Tamada

C group

Carlos Checa
Olivier Jacque
Randy de Puniet
Sylvain Guintoli
Alex Hofmann
Jeremy McWilliams
Andrew Pitt

The season is split into 3 periods.  The first 6 races is the 1st period, the middle 6 races is the 2nd period, and the last 6 races is the 3rd period.  Each rider on your team must rest 2 races per period.  For example, Rossi can only ride 4 races in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd periods.  So Rossi can only ride 12 races out of 18 and rest 6 races.  Here is how the season breaks down;

1st period------Losail, Jerez, Istanbul, Shanghai, Le Mans, and Mugello.

2nd period-----Catalunya, Donington, Assen, Sachsenring, Laguna Seca, and Brno.

3rd period------Misano, Estoril, Motegi, Phillip Island, Sepang, and Valenciana.

All results and statistics will be obtained from www.motogp.com No other website or other source matters. If motoGP.com says Hayden's top speed of 201.76mph was the highest speed all weekend, then that's what this fantasy motoGP uses to score the riders. No other source matters. Riders that are not selected by any entrant will not be considered when scoring QP to RAC position change, Fastest Lap, Highest Top Speed, Most Wins, and Most Podiums.

The scoring categories are as follows;
1)Race results      1st = 50pts
                        2nd=40pts
                         3rd=32pts
                         4th=26pts
                         5th=22pts
                         6th=20pts
                         7th=18pts
                         8th=16pts
                         9th=14pts
                       10th=12pts
                       11th=10pts
                       12th= 8pts
                       13th= 6pts
                       14th= 4pts
                       15th= 2pts
                       16th= 0pts
                       17th= 0pts
                       18th= 0pts
                       19th= 0pts
                       20th= 0pts
                       21st= 0pts
If a rider or riders are "not classified" (for example DNF) by motoGP.com, they are scored -20 pts. If a rider is classified 15th or higher and DNFs, the rider will be awarded the appropriate points for race finish minus 20 pts for DNFing. Example, a rider has a mechanical and fails to finish the race. But he is classified as 15th. The rider is scored +2 and -20 for net score of -18pts.

2)Qualifying results        Pole=21pts
                                 2nd=20pts
                                 3rd=19pts
                                 4th=18pts
                                 5th=17pts
                                 6th=16pts
                                 7th=15pts
                                 8th=14pts
                                 9th=13pts
                               10th=12pt
                               11th=11pts
                               12th= 10pts
                               13th= 9pts
                               14th= 8pts
                               15th= 7pts
                               16th= 6pts
                               17th= 5pts
                               18th= 4pts
                               19th= 3pts
                               20th= 2pts
                                21st= 1pt
However motoGP grids the qualifying order determines the scoring. Doesn't matter if they use lap times in QP, average lap times from the FP1, 2, and 3, or if they use the championship standing to determine the starting positions.

3)Qualifying position to race result position change.  Any rider that starts the race is eligible to be awarded points.  If a rider starts in 10th place but wins the race, that rider gained 9 positions.  And if a rider starts from pole and finishes 12th, that rider lost 11 positions.  Scoring is as follows;
Biggest position gainer       =  16pts
2nd biggest position gainer =  8pts
3rd biggest position gainer  =  4pts
3rd biggest position loser    =  -4pts
2nd biggest position loser   =  -8pts
Biggest position loser          =  -16pts
All other riders are scored 0pts.

Sometimes riders will tie for QP to RAC position change.

The same formula, different numbers though, is also applied to biggest position losers

4)Fastest Lap in Race.  The 5 fastest laps from 5 different riders from the Race only will be scored as follows;
Fastest Lap in Race = 15pts
2nd Fastest Lap in Race = 12pts
3rd Fastest Lap in Race  = 9pts
4th Fastest Lap in Race  = 6pts
5th Fastest Lap in Race  = 3pts
All other riders are scored 0pts.

5)Top Speed in Race.  The 5 highest top speeds from 5 different riders from the Race only will be scored as follows;
Highest Top Speed in Race = 15pts
2nd Highest Top Speed in Race = 12pts
3rd Highest Top Speed in Race = 9pts
4th Highest Top Speed in Race = 6pts
5th Highest Top Speed in Race = 3pts
All other riders are scored 0 pts.

6)Most races won. At the end of each period, the entrant’s team with the most wins is awarded 20pts. All the riders on your team qualify for all 6 races when determining the score. The resting of riders are irrelevant for this award. If a tie of 2 or more teams results, then the points will be divided evenly between the tied teams.

7)Most podiums earned. A podium is a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place finish. At the end of each period, the entrant’s team with the most podiums is awarded 15pts. All the riders on your team qualify for all 6 races when determining the score. The resting of riders are irrelevant for this award. If a tie of 2 or more teams results, then the points will be divided evenly between the tied teams.

8)Record for Fastest Lap ever by a motorcycle. The rider that breaks the record for fastest lap ever by a motorcycle is awarded 15pts.

9)Record for Fastest Race Lap. The rider that breaks the record for fastest race lap is awarded 15pts.

Injuries, riders quitting/getting fired. If one of your riders isn’t riding a particular race or multiple races, you cannot get a replacement rider. The 6 riders you choose at the beginning of the season is final. You are stuck with your riders for the remainder of the season and all your riders must still rest 2 races each period. If the team replaces your rider with another rider, you get the replacement rider.

Team selection deadlines. Each race you get to race only 4 of 6 riders. You must select and PM Rich or me which 4 riders will ride in each race prior to the start of that race’s 1st Free Practice (FP1). After the start of the FP1 but before the start of the Qualifying Practice (QP), you may change which riders you want to ride that race. Remember that each rider must still rest 2 races per period. Once QP starts, no changes can be made. If you forget to notify Rich or me which of your riders are racing before the start of FP1, we will choose your riders for you. You will not be able to make rider changes during FP1, FP2, or FP3 if you forgot to PM your rider list to Rich or me. The selection is final for that race and the method that Rich and I choose to select your team is our discretion. It is up to you to remember to send in your list of the 4 riders from your team that you want to race for every race of the season.

Hey Charles,
In Fantasy Football, most leagues will allow you so many trades per year to change your players. If I understand you correctly, the 6 riders we pick is the 6 that we are stuck with right or will we be able to make adjustments to our teams for each of the 3 race periods?

Rich and I went back and forth many many times about trades and replacement riders. It becomes very complicated and a lot of work for Rich and I to enforce all the extra rules.

The 6 riders you pick by 05Mar07, are the 6 riders you are stuck with all season. The only except is if a rider is replaced by his real world team, then you get the replacement rider. For example, if Nicky Hayden is on your team and he gets badly injured in a crash. And Repsol Honda replaces him with Troy Baylsis. Then Troy Baylsis is on your team. After 5 races N. Hayden is healed up and Troy Baylsis is replaced with N. Hayden on the Repsol Team. Then N. Hayden is on your team again. Then T. Baylsis replaces Andrew Pitt on the Ilmor team. N. Hayden is still on your team. For the most wins and most podium scoring categories, you only get the points from T. Baylsis during the time he was replacing N. Hayden. You don't get any points from Baylsis when he's riding for Ilmor's team.

I hope that's clear
