Hi all, first post here. To cut a long story short, after leaving my busa standing for 3 years in all weathers I decided it was time to get it sorted. So I stipped off the fairings and did a full service. Changed plugs/oil/oil filter/battery & coolant. Had an issue with the clutch but that was fixed after a full bleed. She now runs like a dream. (2692 miles on clock).

Now the problem which I am hoping someone can help with although this info is rather bizarre.

I have put all of the fairings back on and I have two bolts left over

They are the larger allen key bolts such as the ones that actually go into the frame as opposed to the smaller ones that fit into clips.

I have no visible holes missing bolts. Can anybody suggest where they might have come out from?

I have scanned through the Haynes manual but have had no joy.

Thanks in advance, Andy.

lol

I just googled for 2002 hayabusa and found a pic... I zoomed in and noticed that the rear fairing by the riders seat had two silver allen key bolts.... I removed the philips head bolts and inserted the allen bolts

I now have two screw bolts left over...They may have even come from the old battery...

Have been reading through the whole of the forums for the last couple of days and think I have found myself a new home

How many bolts do you have for your grab rail? Should have four large allen heads...

Are they the ones that go in the lower fairings kinda under the rearsets. Each of the lowers have 2 large head allen bolts, the obvious one in the center and the other tucked away at the back under the rearset. Especially not noticable on teh left side of the bike.

Some pics might help.

Hi all, apologies for the delay but have just managed to get to laptop. I had a quick scout round bike today and noticed that under the rear hump there were two holes that looked like they were crying out for some bolts (Not the grab rail bolts but closer to the battery).

Sure enough that was where the two missing bolts went!!!

Apologies for wasting everybodys time but be safe in the knowledge that this wont be happening again in the near future.

Thanks again, Andy

Could you post some pics. I'm not near my Busa at the moment, but the only bolts under the hump other than the grab bar bolts are phillips head screws, not allen head bolts.

Yes, I had the philips ones in the side fairing instead of under the hump which meant I had 2 allen bolts left over at the time and none under the hump. I the removed the philips ones from the side fairing and put in the correct allen bolts.

I was then left over with 2 philips bolts which I worked out went under the hump.

They are all where they should be now
