Crashing and getting road rash sucks. Can you imagine getting burned by the friction caused from sliding over wood? Worse than that would be the splinters.

That film is amazing. I never knew that the early days of racing was on wooden tracks!!! We've come a long way in racing----and especially the gear they wore!!!

I wonder just how many 2x4s it took to build one of these. Read a story about a guy somehow getting under a board track and sticking his head up through a hole in it for a better view. When the bikes came around, one of them supposedly clipped his head off. Was said in the story that the incident along with another big crash involving several spectators and riders killed also helped bring about the end of motorcycle racing on board tracks.

Excellent video. I always thought board tracks were much smaller. That thing was absolutely huge. Great find.

Gotta love it. It's all they had and all they knew and just went for it.

thx for the post. i too was impressed by the size of that wooden track. i enjoyed the sidecars. my "other" bike is a 2002 Harley Electraglide/1997 Harley sidecar rig. not very fast but loads of fun.
