16 tooth sprocket brand and part#

Hey guys, my local bike shop hasn't found a 16 tooth for my Busa yet and the snow is a melting and I want to be ready. Any suggestions on brand and part# for a 16 tooth that will make my copper fly? Who has the quickest delivery?

Did you guys use a Suzuki part, or other brand?

A 16 tooth from a 97-99 GSXR 600,96-99 GSXR 750,TL1000R,TL1000S or 93-97 GSXR 1100 will fit the Busa.

Umm.. Id hate asking stupid questions, but how the heck am I gonna learn anything? What does getting more teeth do to the performance of the bike?

Mystic, I'm going for 1 less tooth. More acceleration, easier wheelies. I'm willing to give up some top end for this. I have never had my bike wrung out in 6th anyways.

Less teeth: only good if you are talking about bikes or hockey players.

Canuck it's Sunstar part # 51116. Available everywhere in the States and Canada ($30 Cdn.) I've had it on for 8,000 miles...no unusual wear on either sprocket or the chain wear guard on the swingarm.

Get one and instantly feel the 6%+ improvement in effective rwhp. If you can't find one anywhere else, LP carries'em in stock.

Mystic, since you didn't seem to get a straight answer,

Changing the gear ratio will alter the mechanical advantage of the power of your engine.

The short answer is that reducing the # of teeth on the front sprocket OR increasing the # of teeth on the rear sprocket will give you faster acceleration off the line and get you into the powerband of your bike quicker. You will end up losing some of the top speed of your bike this way.

Consequently, if you increase the teeth in the front and drop in the rear, and you bike has enough power, you will gain more top end but lose out on some of your lower end acceleration.

Yeah Viol8r, I tried to string it out. Did three long-hand drafts on it during the night. But after hours of writing and agonizing editing, it just seemed like anything more than a "1" and a "6" was mere embellishment.
