ok, I'm looking for opinions here. I have access to E85 and E100 on post. the bike is currently stock. I'm researching options for an upcoming build that i'm having Goldenchild do. I've heard fantastic things about him from a couple local peeps, that and his reputation on here convinced me. I've had to put it off now for almost a year, occasionally, things more important than motorcycles pop up (yea, I can't believe I said that either). Anyhow, when I get back to the states, I'm going to pursue a 1397 with spray. I've been thinking about using E85 with spray. I know it's 105 octane and requires ~30% more fuel. so injectors and an ecu tune. will the factory fuel pump support that much fuel? and will the E85 rust out the factory fuel tank?

btw, move this to a different section if it's in the wrong spot plz.

I'm no expert in the matter but if I was running a big bore setup along with nitrous I would definitely upgrade to larger injectors and fuel pump. I've been working towards completing my build and I upgraded to S2000 injectors, Internal Bosch fuel pump, and Billet fuel rail. Now my fuel system is ready to handle just about any amount of HP I throw @ it

I keep going back and forth, I want to keep it as reliable as it's been, and the added complexity makes me think I may induce some problems later.

Adding nitrous is complex.....??? removing a fuel pump and replacing it with 1 that fits in the exact same assembly is easy. Removing injectors and putting new 1's in their place is simple. All the upgrades I listed were literally plug n play. Adding nitrous is not simple nor an easy task done right. You have to make sure it's installed properly, tuned properly, and maintained properly. My fuel system upgrades are just as reliable as OEM if not more because they are better quality components and can move more fuel more efficiently which is the foundation 2 creating more HP no matter what setup U go Nos, turbo, big bore etc.

WIth E85 and E100 you will need the bigger injectors and pump. The cooling effects of that fuel works very well with nitrous

i'll talk to Daniel about it when I get back. the nitrous and E85 may end up being a project for next winter, if my budget cooperates

Daniel built my 1397 3 1/2 yers ago and I Finally have it to him for the first tune up now ! That's how well its ran . I am also having the NOS hooked back up . I only used a small shot but never had problems before and I don't expect them now . Daniel hasn't ever steered me wrong in the 10 years that he has been working on both my busas. Why would you want to use race fuel? For drags only??

well, if you want to go fill up, i'll escort you on post, just let me know.

E85 is not going to rust your tank but the water that it attracts from high humidity climates will attribute to it eventually. If you run it as full as possible as often as possible that will help. The S2000 injectors on a 200hp+ engine on pump is nicely sized but will be cutting it close with E85 or higher. A Walbro or Bosch in-tank pump will definitely be needed. Adding larger fuel rail never hurts or at least modifying the stock rail is always a good idea on a dead in fuel system. Highly recommended IMHO. The Gen IIs shouldn't have any issues except for a good pump. Gotta love ECU Editor especially on a Gen II.

Tuning will be hardest for idle and part throttle transitioning.

Edit: Starting will also be difficult if you don't tend to that part of tuning.

But the guys on here that tune will tell me I am full of crap as they have probably done plenty of them already and have ready to use .bin files or PC maps as a base.

Expect at least similar HP gains like VP Racing MR12v at a 1/4 of the price but watch your fuel gauge go to zero just as fast as you go 0-200mph. With E85 you will gain HP from more available timing advance.

i'm more concerned about it rotting my fuel lines and fittings and over the long term destroying my injectors.

1397 on spray is a great combination. My fully dressed stock bodywork, stock frame bike went 8.teens with the nitrous turned down. I dont have access to E85 here so I use VP import.

I'm about to spray my 1397....what size shot got you to 8.teens? That's about where I'd like to be.

id go external pump external regulator, large fuel rail and larger than S2000 injectors. I am going with MPS 62lb injectors on my 1397 with E85. using a walbro 255 and aeromotive regulator.

street bike or track bike? goin for a ride and finding E85 isn't always that easy depending on where u reside. E85 doesn't like cold temps and being from the NW its gonna be cold. I have a buddy in NY that runs E85 on his bike which he street rides and takes to the track.

he is switching back to 93 pump and using C16 on track days cause he states his bike is a hit and miss on how its gonna run when the temps fluctuate and tired of the BS. he also states how E85 varies so much from one station to another and states even when he gets it from the same place it seems that the octane is different from time to time. but I guess the same cud be said about pump gas but it doesn't seem to vary as much.

That is very true - legally E85 can vary widely on ethanol/gas %.
