I think there is a problem with the shock itself. I loosened the lock ring easy enough but the adjustment ring won't not move more than a couple mm. I guess that is why the dealershop hammered the crap out of it and didn't get it to move more than a 1/2 turn

Mine with low miles was the same way, it would barely budge. But that dealer tech may have never adjusted a shock in their life based on them using a hardened tool, which they should not have done. I am guessing a different tech with more skill will be required to install the shock, and likely will not get paid at all due to it being warranty work.

If you ask the dealer perhaps they can clean and adjust the new shock a few revolutions before they put it in, when it is outright easy to do.

Dealership told me that the collars are not available separately, so they will be getting me a new shock

One has to wonder: Did they call Suzuki service or did they merely look in the parts catalog?

No, I do not trust these people at all to know their job.

The dealership is 57kms from me so getting the bike there would be 4hrs of time and $30 in gas. They agreed to come and pick up the bike, replace the bike and deliver it back to me.

The service mgr told me he did contact Suzuki and the collars are not available separately. So, if you damage them it will be an expensive fix. Pretty poor engineering in my opinion. The collars should be much thicker and there should be a sleeve between the coil and the adjusting ring.

Well, what do ya know... Two and a half months later the dealership finely found time to change the shock they damaged. Nice of them to deliver it as they are 1hr from me. No follow up, no apology for destroying the shock on my brand new bike and all the hassle it caused.

I did ask them if they would make sure there was 10mm - 12mm of static SAG. I haven't checked yet but I see they shock adjuster is right at the top. Something tells me this spring is going to be too tight for my 185lbs.

I am happy its done and I am done with them.
