ARRRRGGHHHH maybe put two one each direction HAHAHAHAHAHAHAIt’s no surprise that there are several ways to install or not, a simple crush washer.
Like @sixpack577 said they're supposed to be installed with the flat side against the flat bolt head and the raised side to the threads.ARRRRGGHHHH maybe put two one each direction HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
My one one was so flat and destroyed removing I couldn't tell which way it went
Looks like I've been doing it wrong, but it has never leaked putting the crush washer the other way ,live and learnRaised side against the oil pan, so the washer 'crushes' into the lead thread...where a leak can happen.

Could the original one be stuck to the bolt all these years?
Yep...and look like a flat washer.
I've seen them leak after the first oil change...or never leak after multiple changes.
