Here's the skinny:

I have a chrome swing arm done by Sports Chrome. My T-Rex spools with 8mm bolts showed up today at the door with my new rearstand. Went to install the 8mm bolts into the hole in the swing arm...no go. Since the arm was chromed the chroming has mde threading the bolt through a BEEEOOOCHHH. I've already had a small chip peel away but can't get the damnn bolts through.

So, is there any insider-tip and how to safely remove the chrome in the hole and get the bolt through without a complete disaster?

Tap it & re-thread it very carefully.

Glad you got. Seems like that would have been taken care of during prep. No chrome in, no chrome to get out:poke:

Im assuming the Spool was able to cover the part of the chrome that started peeling.

Ehhhh....no the holes had chrome in them and when I threaded the 8mm bolt they began to chip and peel pretty bad...like an egg. The spool covers the area, but if I took them off you'd see it big-time.

Do yourself a favor. Take the spools back off, and put something like clear nail polish, or touch up automotive clear coat (with the little brush) on the edges of where it chipped. Water WILL get in there and start messing with it.
