The bike looks alot like the K1200S and K1300S to me. The K's have had driveshafts since inception and they have the same horsepower levels as the Busa and ZX14 and they are very rider friendly when feeding the oats to the horses. This should be a great all around with a V4 in a upright sitting sport chassis.

I'm sure it'll be a nice bike, but I'm pretty happy with my current two-wheeled rocket.

I found this on VFRdiscussion.com

.....kind of like that new scooter/motorcycle thing they are selling now, or at least trying to sell.

I just saw one of the DN-01 bike/scooter things at the dealership today. In real life, it looks pretty amazing. I admit it looked way too long and weird in pictures, but it looks pretty cool in person. My wife absolutely refuses to learn how to operate a manual transmission. If she ever got on 2 wheels, there's worse things she could ride than the DN-01.

I sat on the DN-01 in January at the Int'l show. Total cruiser position: Arms reaching to the bars, feet reaching to the pegs/boards, center of gravity way off from mine. Also, it's an automatic - no fun! ;) Didn't like it, but it is an interesting machine from a tech perspective.

Love Honda's V-4 (had a 750 magna in '83) and the VFR is certainly
due for a face lift but...hate the thought of it being an semi auto tranny.
According to the article auto tranny with a push button...to me, riding a bike
is about clutch and foot shifter.

Honda's horsepower/performance numbers are always on the side of
conservitive...quality and reliability come first in honda book. Doubt seriously
a 1200 from honda would rate over 150-160 hp (especially with a shaft).
Heck Zuk is only cranking out 175 hp with the busa 1340cc motor and a chain.
(Course that's the problem I have with Zuks gen 1.5 update, but that's another post)

I hardly think this will be a blackbird/busa killer replacement. I think it will
be more like an interceptor/ST1300 replacement.

DN-01 is a different bike but I can't help scratching my head for a $14,000
starter bike. Course I think they just did it to do it and dispurse the technology
elsewhere (like the goldwing).

Kinda funny, at Daytona bikeweek...honda did no demo rides. They concluded
that the demo rides did not translate into sales and therefore provided no benifit...
DUH...every bike they got is getting spanked by the competition and ALL need a updates
Goldwing = Goldwinnabego, nice tourer but would rock if it lost 50lbs and gained 30-50 hp
ST1300 - Gets left way behind by the FJR and the Concours
Interceptor - Gets left behind by any liter bike and is more expensive
V-Twin cruisers - get spanked by Star, Zuks 109s, and now Kawi Voyagers

and they wonder why the demos don't work for them :banghead: a demo ride
would just reafirm another mfg's choice.

Granted the CBR1000 (from what I've read is very good) but only after a
belated redesign and they never had the nads to demo those anyway.

Honda, as a company, is too into their cars, I think. Remember back in the day when they actually gave a damn about their motorcycles?

I agree...it used to be they were the most innovative and that led to
them making the best bikes. My '83 magna was the lightest, most powerful
750s yet made (if I remember right). It was innovation with a purpose.

Now they just play it safe and don't take any risks, heck the last demo ride
I took with them in Daytona...I swear all the escort riders were in there 60-70yr old
and we went thru a residential area. I don't think I got the bike up over 45
and that was slingshotting.

By contrast I took a ride with Kawi on zx10. The ride was in two groups, I was
in the 2nd group. The lead rider of group two had us hang back till group one
cleared a turn...he popped a wheelie, hunkered down and hit it. I was playing
hell just to catch up and we hit the 35mph turn at around 90...
That was demo ride...

Honda = no nads...no edge.
