remember, you get what you pay for, i thought long and hard about that exact question and ended up just getting a new triple tree

This was the same thing for us but at some point hopefully I'll get the Heavy Bus back and I wanted the extra height at the bars for comfort, so that was a major part of our decision as opposed to just a lowering top clamp.

Excellent advise from everyone as I expected, mixed opinions! That's how life is, good for you might be bad fore me. I think I may like the bars up an inch or so because I am short as are my arms. I am flat footing the ground as I modded my seat and installed dog bones for a 1" rear drop. I am sitting level on the ground but I do have to lean to the bars. Upright riding only for a minute to stretch out the arms. I am comfortable though but always looking to extend the comfort for longer rides. It's kind of cool being 165 lbs and 5'6" tall and riding this big beast. It feels great to me even being this small.

a lowering kit is another can of worms... kills the bike for twisty riding.. might be ok for drag racing and LSR stuff but the guys that corner can kill the plastics on a stock height..

Tell me DR1300, what to do? These folks believe in you so I do too.

Mr Bogus, thanks for the offer on the 50 lbs but that may slow my Lord Humongous BUSA down? With the new ram air and shorty pipes, I have gained 150 hp which I feel I may loose if I take your offer on the 50lbs. J/K, no LH on my Bird!

MrNinja, I will PM you about the triple. Got any pics of it?

I have a question on the 08 with the 1 inch spacer in the front is there a clearance problem? It looked really close to me...

When the handlebars are in the locking position my right hand touches the right side of the windshield, it's not a problem just something I noticed when locking the handlebars.

I thought that may be the case. I have a double bubble and it looks like the clearance would be very tight.

I love the brass but don't they tarnish as brass does? They are kind of hard to get to in order to polish them in place. They look awesome!

No issues with mine, I just wipe them off.. The 3/4" brass will allow you to lower the 1" your looking for..
