I can get the spacers delivered for $20 bucks and my bars will come up 1". Or, I can spend $169 for a triple tree and drop an inch. I have dropped the back 1" and hesitate to spend so much for the triple tree.:moon:

Any of you guys use the spacers and if so, what do you think? Any input would be appreciated as you guys know what's up! I can still lower 1" with the spacers so the same end result as I see it. Chime in folks and tell me your thoughts,

Dave

yeah but if you lower with the psacers you need to get longer brake lines. Cause if the front comes up then you take a chance on hurting your lines. I have a tripple tree. laying around it is all black i believe it is a yani shiki. so if your interested let me know

I have spacers and love 'em. If you lower it, you will NOT need longer lines. The nice part about the spacers is that even lowered, your handlebars are higher - makes for a more comfortable riding position, IMO.

Being 5' 6" short, the 1" rise would be a big help when I am not laying on the tank. I don't care as much about the lowering as much as I like the thought of an additional inch of rise. Whom would argue with an extra inch?

omar is right. i forgeot my bad man. to early in the morning . you won't need longer lines if you use the risers between tripples if your lowering it. if you just use the spacers to raise your bars then you might consider the lines.

i too have spacers i got mine from dr1300r. great guy to deal with.

but mine are 3/4 and i don't have th bike lowered so. to each there own i am not sure what i want out of the tripple pm me a price

I have spacer as well, there nice when riding, i have never used a triple tree so i dont know about that. on the looks end of it, im sure the triple tree would look better, if you have a plated one or something like that.

We did the same thing on my wifes bike. I used Doyles spacers to raiser the upper tree and then lowered her bike. Worked great.

the triple clamp and spacers have the opposite effect of each other if you are working on riding posture (bent over tank)

lower the nose of the bike, the bars drop that amount, more lean.. Add the spacers and you get back to stock almost but with a lower ground clearance.. (ground clearance on these bikes is marginal already if you ride hard at all through the twisties)

Add the bar spacers (DR1300R has them) and then loosen the trees to let the forks slide back into the slots on the original top tree.. bike will be lower and you will sitting at a position almost identical to stock..

When we started at looking at lowering the bike for LSR the cheapest fastest way to do it was raise the bars and slide the forks up(bars, spacers Top clamp) after looking pretty hard at all of the options available SRAD settled on the GenMar risers. The small aluminum spacers do the same jobs as the GenMars for much less money but we felt that a complete solid spacer the size of the upper triple and the handlesbar mount would be safer and more reliable simply due to the increased contact area(it's the same size as the triple clamp). Also as a bonus it raises the handlebars the thickness of the spacer moving you more upright and looks much nicer. Granted GenMar is one of my Sponsors but we approached them because we felt that their product was the best safest available.
here's install pics should be #55 #56 I think

If money is not an issue I'd suggest the GenMars great quality easy install looks good. If money is tight try the round spacers same effect cheaper just doesn't look quite as nice

if you add spacers, you change your seating position. Seating position is irrelevant to bike height. However then there is weight distribution which would be based on how much to raise or lower and where. But figuring a 1" all around drop but using spacers in the front...you will sit more upright.

If you add a tree that maintains similar dimension to the stock unit, your seating position would remain the same as stock. Bike height and weight distribution would change.(depending on adjustments made)

Know where you're coming from, brother. Got a GenMar riser in the mail right now. can't wait to install it. ditto on SRADkneedragger's comments.

yes but your "hanging over the tank" changes with both mods.. I should have clarified that this is relative to the tank.. (he mentioned the hanging over the tank thing)

MR SRAD here
We bought the Heavy Bus due to the fact that I couldn't travel on my RC51 due to the extreme riding position. With the bar GenMar risers you move up and back taking quite a bit of weight off of your wrists. You can also use them to lower the front if you want.
We don't have a seat per say on the HeavyBus right now just a duct taped factory seat pan. With the dropped seat height and the bar risers the thing almost feels like a gold wing ergonomically.
The GenMars are first rate and they are great people to deal with. They should work for either raised bars or lowering the front perfectly. Also keep in mind a cut down seat if reach to the ground is an issue. I have a Gel seat but its actually TALLER than a stock seat, so your back to leaning forward
