I was trying earlier to trade in my Chevy truck. After an hour or so, they really low balled me. They knew an hour ago what they were gonna offer, why make me wait? It's such BS! I about pimpsmacked the salesman as he was telling me the offer. It just seems I'm always just that little bit far enough behind that anything I want is out of reach.

I've had it with the whole auto industry. I tell them I want a Chevy 4dr 1500 series fullsize 2wd truck and all they show me is all their 4wd's they have. It's all games. I tell them again, the salesguy goes to his manager, the manager comes back with an offer for "What I'm looking for". Tell's me "I have a guy bringing it around front". Yep, a 4dr, sunroofed, fully loaded........ FOUR WHEEL DRIVE!!!
A 2500 series at that. WTF!!!!!! He then tells me that I can switch the transfercase into 2wd mode and it's the same thing. NO, it's not. The fuel mileage can prove that. I live in northern Va and have NO use for 4wd, EVER. Unless I'm goofing offroad or something. Sure there's snowdays here and there, but that's so once in a while that it doesn't matter.

I'm just floored and tired of the BS runaround with dealerships. :banghead:

I actually was having fun dckering with a salesman and his manager one time, They got so close to what I wanted to pay that he said to me, and I quote ( Michael thats only the cost of a soda pop a day ) and I said to him ( I like my Soda Pop ) Now go tell your manager the same thing. It was 30 min after there closing time when I heard the Manager from the back of the building yell, ( Fine let him have it )

2nd Part of this story, I was trading in a fully customized ( almost showtruck ) Chevy Truck. When we were talking about trade in he made the mistake of telling me, To them it was only a truck, When I brought it back the next day to seal the deal, Thats what it was, a stock truck, I spent all night and the next day replacing all my custom parts with the stock ones, Parked it at the end of the lot, made the trade, Part of the deal was a Wheel / Tire swap, so they did that. I got a call from my salesman the following day wanting to know where the Toneau Cover was and all the Chrome parts that were on the engine. I told him he said it was just a truck so thats what he got.

Finally go one over on them. ( Probably not )

If they can't follow your simple requests at the outset, what makes them think you're going to believe they'll be able to handle your service requests as you own the vehicle.

Good opportunity to find another dearler.

Dealership vehicle shopping sucks. Its a big clusterf#@! of bullsh*tting salesmen, mind games, smoke and mirrors with numbers, lies, and all day haggling. But then buying new is the quickest way there is to lose money besides flushing it down the john. If you know a little about vehicles, private parties with low mileage machinery and cash in your hand is the way to go :laugh:

When you hear stories like this you have a better understanding of why the car sales are in the toilet!:flush: I finallly found an honest dealership--good salesman, fair deal, when I bought my Nissan Titan. NOw--they're the only place I'll spend my money!

There's 6 Chevy dealerships within 40 miles of my house, all of them hurting. It's a buyers market now, no need to take any BS from any of them, and they know that.
If it wasn't for the fact that I know gas prices will go through the roof again within 1-2 years.. The're selling 08 Silverado LS shortbeds for $10,999 at the place just down the road from me.
I'd love to have a dark blue one..

Towards the end of the deal when I was buying the wife her Murano the sales guy said something to the effect of "it's only $350 extra, surly you can afford that!?" So before you could blink I countered with "your right, it is only $350 so why don't 'you' pick it up, surly you can afford that out of your commission...". His open mouth stare was one of the funniest moments...

Needless to say the dealership ponied up the $.

I had a pleasant experience when I bought the Tundra. Why was that?
Well, gas was over four (4) bucks a gallon. Truck sales were in the tank. 08 inventory had to be moved for 09 allotments. Sales were off 30 to 40%.

Ask yourself what has changed? Consumer spending is the lowest it has ever been. Automakers are basically broke. People are still not buying trucks. Gas prices are temporary. The biggest reason gas prices are down is because of consumer spending.

You would think dealers would..well..deal huh? They are pushing 4 by 4's because they can't sell them. Not even in Arizona where everyone has one. So, gas is high and they cry. Gas is low now no deals.

Keep shopping because a sincere salesman will find you the right truck for your needs. After all, how many trucks are in storage at the rail yards?

Now, go to Edmunds.com and price your truck. Add 5 to 7% to cover dealer overhead and go on the last day of the month. Make that offer. (if they have your truck) Several guys at work have done this.

It's a buyers market. Keep shopping.

$22,000 OTD. (city tax, state tax, doc fees, license fees) Included a 75000/7 year 0 deductible warranty. I put $4500 down, they matched the down and another $4500 from Toyota. Sticker was $32800.

They came down another $400 and filled the 27 gallon tank @ 4.05 a gallon at that time.

I drove it home. Keep shopping.

DO the research before you go and play it like poker bringing the price down. Be ready to walk out, and do it, if they don't meet your mark. Otherwise hit carmax and get something used.

The trucks I was talking about were used. There's a particular used truck I really want there. Just figuring how to get it is the hard part.

Go to another dealer and see if he can get it. I would think the sales managers would deal behind your back however.

"yeah, he was here looking at it" type of thing.

Whats wrong with the one you have now?

Not where I go, the best dealer in the United States. I will not go to just any dealer.

Small town dealer. Eischen Chevrolet, Fairview Oklahoma.

sorry your so far away, it would be worth the drive not to put up with the buttheads.

here's one of our buying stories. We have bought all our pick ups since 1993 from Eischen Chevrolet.

In 04 we wanted an Avalanche, I called George Eischen and asked if he had one.
He did so we took the 100 mile trip out in the country.
Jr. was 2 years old and needed to be watched during the test drive. George has 3 boys and toys at the dealership for Jr. to play with.
We went on the test drive with the owner watching our 2 year old.

We decided to purchase the vehicle, only it was not the right color and options were not what we wanted.
George got on the locator and found one close to our house.

We did not have to drive back to Fairview because George drove to OKC on Monday and picked up the one we wanted from the dealer here, washed it, filled the tank and came to our house.
Gayla cooked him some breakfast and we signed the paperwork at the kitchen table.
He drove our old pickup back to Fairview.
Now as far as price, he has always given me more than any dealer.
After the first two pickups I bought from him, I knew he would not jack me up.
Now I just ask him how much and I know it is the best deal.
I trust him watching my son so buying a vehicle is a minor matter of trust.

man, that sux Paul, I'd go find another dealer and another truck. there is always a duplicate of what you want somewhere else and a dealership owner that wants, no, NEEDS to sell it. The web is your friend and heck flights are super cheap these days for a lot of places, you could probably work the right deal over the phone
