Let me see what you guys have done. I'm more curious to see who has some homemade stuff that looks nice and neat.

Do a search and you will find all the information you need. I used a dremel tool and just cut it off. Just cleaned up the rough edges a little, installed Clearly Alternative Integrated Tail light. Very easy, the only cost was the tail light.

Has anyone cut off the fender and also the black plastic that protrudes under the tail section on the sides? That, and the reflector under the taillight has got to go IMHO.

I am going to make room in the garage, put the bike on stands, take off the tail section and see if I can replicate the fender/wheel well between the edges of the painted tail section. If that works out, I'll have it powder coated black.

The tricky part will be license plate placement and figuring out the cleanest way to illuminate the plate.

thanks for the posts, guys. I was gonna do a search, but there was a problem with the search function (and the board, I think) last night. Keep em coming.
For those of you that used a dremel, what kind of cutting wheel did you use, b/c last time I tried doing it with the dremel it melted the plastic b/c it got so hot.

I used a variable speed dremel, so I just slowed the speed down and didn't have a problem. I don't remember if I used a mini cutoff wheel or if it was like s "zip" bit. Either one will work...

I almost cut the shovel off this last weekend, BUT I am not impressed with any of the lighting mods. I want my turn signals to be seen. thought about attaching them just under the body-- chickened out, cause I can't picture if it would look too dorky.
