AND WE ARE DONE!!!!
Last Friday we went to the hospital for her radioiodine treatment and today was the follow up and full body scan. We've been holding our breath because this form of cancer is very treatable but also has the potential to spread to the bones and lungs. Given the advance nature of the cancer, and that they weren't able to get it all during surgery it's been a cloud hanging over us...BUT NO MORE!!
The scan did reveal that the surgery had missed some thyroid and lymph node tissues that still had cancer but the radioactive iodine got it all. Diana will have to go back for follow up treatments every year for the next three years as a preventative measure but her specialist was confident that she is all clear now.
