Suzuki begins notifying dealers of closings

Just found out my local shop, Flat Out, is one of the 20% that have been notified. The manager couldn't have been more surprised. Swung by to pick up parts, and he mentioned that they couldn't get parts for "maybe a few weeks." He said they were going through the appeal process. He couldn't understand how their store was selected as the were 2nd in the country just a few years back in sales. Lucky for me they has the gasket in stock.

Being that the busa is not a bike That gets sent to the scrap yard often, I think dealers would be smart not to take the option of sending the parts back for cash. But if they can't order parts at cost, they will run out eventually.

The manager mentioned they offered them $10K. He said he had $50K in parts and they were worth much more there in the store.

He said only 5 dealers in the country have appealed, them being one. The "certified letter" they received of the bankruptcy situation was the size of a phone book.

Hope they make it through this...
