Shoul I do it Pros/Cons Please

Well I threw a chain and busted the shifter case , bent the chain , and bent a few rear teeth with my stock stuff at 1900 miles, warranty laughed at me - 450.00 at the dealer fixes the oil leak and I want to do the 16- 42 .
I don't ride at bonneville ( top speed ) and would like it to be a little more like my old 2002 1k ( stolen ) than the bus it is. Where do you guys buy your sprocket chain kits from ? I want steel rear , and what chain holds up the best ? I have been warned about normal o-ring chains stretching really bad on the busa . I hope you think I am cheap because I am , I buy the best stuff for the best price and don't pay dealer's extra high markups unless the gun they have to my head is loaded . I appreciate your tips and suggestions

You have lot's of time to think about transform your bikes...your weather isn't good, otherwise, I in Portugal ride all the year, I don't have time to think in all those things:;): .
I like the bike the most original possible, the Suzuki thinked that way.
But I like to read your transformations, continue.:D
What?  Not to be mean or anything negative, but where did those statements come from?
i was think the same thing but didnt want to say anything.

As far as chains...stretching depends on how you ride i still have teh stock chain from 01 and its holding strong. there are different companies that sell kits as for price i think ronayers has a cheap kit 200 bucks for a front, rear and chain

Yeah I have seen some but I am going to try and prevent same thing from reoccurring. I guess I will go with a tsubaki and some steel sprockets

Do you have a super high HP bike?

Dont see why your chain would be breaking. I ve been to the track numerous times with my old chain and havent had a prob yet. My wheel is streched to teh end of my swingarm but i think that just comes with going to a smaller sprocket

the oem busa chain is junk, get rid of it before it hurts you, mine never stopped stretching from day one,i changed it right away(1200 miles) after hearing a lot of horrer storys at s.h.org

hmm i guess ill have to wait on the other stuff i planned on doing and go for the chain swap

Well thats where I am at, I have to order one today to have the scooter going by next week. I was hoping you guys had the connection on where to get them but it doesnt look like it.I am going to do a 16,40 stock length chain I can change the rear later if I need more snap , thats a start I just don't think I like vortex because of the alloy rear, my dirtbike bends aluminum rear teeth I don't think it can handle the bus.

this may not help since you dont want a aluminum sprocket, but sumofallparts on ebay has a deal where you choose any size vortech sprockets you want,ek 530 zvx 199 to your door,in the past i had good luck with tsubaki chains, but the last one i got,for my zx 12,(it was lowered and +3) at that time only lasted 5 k,its back to stock wheelbase now and the oem did is holding up well, doug ray at spencer cycle has did chain for a dollar a link, hope this helps

Where can i find a titanium chain?

Well I ordered the sprocket specialist 16 tooth front and new chain - this pisses me off but here is the catch , the back sprocket (in steel) which they reccomend is backordered till middle- end of april ,and If I feel rich and want to use aluminum til then --- it will take just as long to get it !

If i go 16 front and stock rear will that be ok?? and what do you guys think about AFAM??

Well It Is Done......
Put on a 16 front steel,120 link did xring both from sprocket specialist, and got a 42 steel rear from afam for a stock swing arm, had them cut the chain at 114 and install with the rivet setup ( no masterlink ) the axle is on the front of the slots so I would recommend going with a 116 link -stock is 112.
The power is all new I dont have a lot of first it goes through it fast and I am into second when I pass 40 mph on the speedo but the engine isn't lugging in 6th on the freeway at 75 anymore and roll ons are sweet and the rumble is just right for easy cruising. I hit 140 today on the speedo ( have no Idea actual speed ) and it was raring to go . The gearing helps a lot and it feels so much better now and nothing has any kind of power in simple freeway passing and lane changing like this . This is the first time I liked my busa better than my old 2002 gsxr 1000 for anything , so the bus has found its nitch with me and Life is good.
