Rear Brake Adjustment Question

Hey Folks,

They say there's no stupid questions...ha ha ha...well every adjustment is an adventure to me even with the shop manual sitting next to me. Better to ask than say I broke something.

I am doing some quick adjustments on the bike and want to check with the group prior to twisting any nuts or bolts. So, what is the trick to adjusting the nuts on the rear brake cylinder assembly? It's a delicate piece that I don't want to mess up. So, I assume that I need to crank the top nut upwards in order to get to the lower bolt and then crank the lower bolt down which would allow the bracket to align with the brake arm, right?

The top nut is in there kinda tight...

Loosen the upper locknut (above your yellow arrow). Adjust the threaded pushrod to have the brake pedal 50-60 MM below the top of the rider foot peg. Tighten the locknut to 13 ft.lbs., and you are done.

Are you just wanting to adjust the lever position or braking pressure?

After making the pedal height adjustment, make sure you verify that the rear brake light activates properly.
