ZX12 vs GSX13 (Aftermarket)

Just curious, based on what I have gathered from the net, the stock ZX12 is heavier than the GSX1300R. The ZX12 with a Titanium (ONE SIDED) exhaust and it is still heavier.

If compared with both bikes with after market full race exhaust, I think the almighty GSX1300R would walk far away from the wannabe ZX12. The weight saving from removing the twin 'cannon' and headers would guarantee a better ratio than the ZX12. I rest my case.

And the Busa has a full year of aftermarket growth that the ZX12 can never catch up with.

Kawasaki's offering will be potent but will need some viagra to keep up with the modest modified Busa's they will face on the street.

Who cares in the end anyway, I would still rather see my sister in the Harley Service tent than on a Kawasaki.

Disclaimer: This is a Hayabusa site and we have real bikes! :)

Dont quote me on this but I remember reading or hearing something about Ricky having a stipulation in his contract saying that as long as he rides for Kawi that he cant ride any other bike other than a Kawi and that he cant street race.

I have been trying to post this on dragbike.com, but to no avail. i just thought that the Rickey guy is taking things too far. any suggestions?

Admit it, the ZX12 with a single sided TITANIUM exhaust and it still weighs in heavier than the 'Busa'. Nothing against 'Kawa'. But I think if there is a comparision between the two bikes with full race exhausts, the busa might walk away from this. Reason is, better power to weight ratio. Stock for stock, other than Rickey's claims, let's wait for the magazines' comparision. At least that would represent a more realistic and even comparision.

Everybody knows that Kawasaki is not going to give a bike to Rickey without it being slightly or heavier breathed on. Which Rickey is zealously claiming that the bike given to him is box-stock. (Do you have a letter from Kawasaki CEO stating that?). With any new models that is pre-released, any bad publicity or poor performance figures would hurt the sales figures.

So I say to have a fair comparision now, is to have both bikes' engines (ZX12 & GSX13R) blue-printed and the figures from this even yardstick would determine the winner. Rickey, please grow up, your actions out on the street and here is not doing Kawasaki any good. Perhaps, the bike should have been given to a better and more level-headed person.

You guys are comparing manufacturers' claimed dry weights.

They exlude exhaust systems. (I, too was shocked when I found out...)

Therefore the Kawasaki's single exhaust (with catalyst!) does not come in the equation.

Boy, I sure agree about Gadson. I am amazed that Kawasaki has not pulled his chain. I think his past life is having effect on his current style. No company can afford this type of negative publicity. I know if I represented my company in illegal activities, I would be history.

I figure from what I`m told he`s a lot like Angeele Seeling...all rider and nothing else and he has a lot of mouth too. The fastest guy or gal will always be the one with the mechanical knowledge in the long run...because there`s always more good riders than people with knowledge.

He definitly has a lot of mouth---that comes from the old days of serious street racing. Back in the early eightys I was very much a part of that in Memphis Tn. A lot of mouth was part of the barginning. I remember all of us meeting every sat night at 2:00am on presidents island next to the river. There was always about 100 or so riders bad mouthing every one else and trying to goad "green" riders into a race. Out of that group I think I was one of about 10 white guys that raced. You have never heard so much verbal bullshit. Serious money was on the line and the slower you could make your bike look, the better you did. I was building 1170 and 1240 Suzukis back then and always had the motor but not the total disregard for my life and drivers license. I was also one of the few that had a license. Anyway, I think that is Gadson's background.
