1. Lean Left/Right, Open the Throttle and Hopefully Blow by the Car/Truck before it Hit's You ?

2. Slam on your Brakes Hopefully before the Car/Truck Hits You ?

I Figure you got about a 3-5 Seconds before you get hit !!!!

I mostly gas it. But last week I had an a$$hole drifting into my lane on an fast, blind, off-camber right-sweeper (2 lanes, no median to separate from oncoming traffic) and I slammed the brakes hard enough for the ABS to kick-in (remember, I WANT a 'Busa, I own a Beemer). A breathtaking exception to my rule

I had some jerkoff tonight on my way to work weaving all over the place speeding up/slowing down as much as 40mph, as soon as I passed them they floored it and were tailgating me at 80mph.

I punched it to about 120 and lost them.

I need the rocket launcher mod for the Busa.

Normally gas it. I've realized most people this happens to on regular occasions tend to ride in cagers blind spots. A good rule of thumb is to ride to where you can see the driver in his/her side-view mirror. If you cant' see them, chances are they can't see you.

Give yourself as much time and space as possible while riding in high traffic areas. Don't depend on any one cue because a driver can come over in your lane at any time with out warning.Find open spots and stay there as much as possible. It is amazing how much drivers are distracted today. Remember that we are invisible to many drivers, make yourself seen by being as conspicious as possible; even if it isn't fashionable, bright neon colors catch the eye of the bewildered driver.Speed up when you have to find an open spot and use the part of the road that you can see the best on. When stopping at a light, keep an eye in the mirrors for a rapidly approaching vehicle; keep the clutch pulled in and in gear until the car stops completely. flash your brake lights as the vehicle nears and have the bike pointed in a direction you can find protection in case the vehicle doesn't stop.

I always ask myself, "If I were driving that car would I be able to see me?" when cruising near a car.. and that should tell you where you should be at in the lane..

As much times as I can remember I usually punch the throttle when they're pulling in my lane.. Seems to be the *fastest and *most effective way to get outta there with all your pieces..

I chose to nail it, I'd rather it be me avoiding other people than other people avoiding me !! But you can never have just one plan for one situation. I ALWAYS just asume that the car next to me is comming over, the car behind me is playing with the radio, and the car ahead ain't stopping, and don't see me, or care !!!

Nope...this one I HAVE to disagree with ya on there NC Brother.....I've blown the same evaluation on as many moto-cops here in Vegas, including the next door neighbor, passing continously, and staying AS FAR away from cagers AT ALL TIMES is the rule......."ahead of them back there, and in back of them up there"......Always be moving in relation to ANY motor vehicle whether slowing down (being passed) or speeding up (passing them). A moving object, it's been found, has a better chance of being seen.....

NOW, as far as someone accidentally or intentionally taking my lane
rock.gif
....I don't throw fits, I don't flip the bird, I don't take a rearview mirror as a souvenir, I simply slide in the direction that they're moving giving me time to accelerate or brake-out of their way. I ride everyday, whatever the weather, and I find this works for me. If someone has a H@RD-ON for this pilot and is tailgating...I simply go to Mach. If I were to be pulled over, I would argue, respectfully, that I'm just trying to keep my distance safe from vehicles that weigh far more than me.....

The reality is, they just don't see us. That is straight from LVMPD, and NHP.....some are preoccupied, some aren't good drivers to start with, some are texting while they drink they're coffee and play with the radio (that one boggles my mind, I'm a peeping Tom on a Busa, I see ALL), and yet without habitual wreckless driving citations they are STILL allowed to operate a motor vehicle with four wheels..........

Take this to the bank.....when riding around other drivers in "cages"..."CONSIDER YOURSELF INVISIBLE".........I never give anyone in a cage a shot at the Spudster....EVER....."don't you either".

Wait...overtaking your lane as in coming over into your lane, or overtaking as in driving faster then you...cuz if you are on a Busa and the later happens...thats just against the rules.

But if it's the first though...well,

Two words "AIR HORN"... Get one!

Actually lots of good advice already suggested, never ride in a blind spot and ALWAYS assume your invisible to traffic. Agree generally not a good idea to ride next to any moving vehicle but sometimes traffic forces this position. Just be on your toes (as you've already demonstrated) and Keep the rubberside down...

if im in the right two lanes i ride the left side of my lane it helps see the traffic up ahead and mekes you visable to overtaking driers , if i am in the left lane , where i usualy ride on a multilane road i ride the extreme right of my lane , again this gives me a better view of traffic up ahead and defends my lane , if you ride the middle of the lane you get into blind spots , always try to move a little faster than traffic and keep an eye out for agressive drivers coming up from behind , they are usualy the ones that try to get you ! whether or not you hit the throttle brake or swerve , has to be a reaction to the situation at hand if you think about it , its probably to late!

+1 for Spudley and Waterbug....

copping an attitude with a 3000 car can be harmful to your health.. I did have a lapse one day and took a guys mirror after he looked me dead in the eye and pulled out in front of me and it was all I could do to keep the shiny up.. he spun around and took off the other way... stupid on my part for sure

Make sure you don't confuse the eagerness for a motorist to stop, look and appreciate the art, history and power the Busa represents. They were probably just intimidated by your presence.

Nothing pisses me off more. Impossible to ignore and stay safe at the same time. What do you do? Well, what you did is what I would have done. Of course... getting that big a lead, stopping and throwing a rock through the window is discouraged here.

If I'm in that situation, I gun it and get out fast or prepare the pucker factor and hit the brakes hard...

In all honesty though, with the area I live in, I don't let anyone just ride near me...I am continually positioning myself to NOT have someone come over on me. I don't allow anyone to hang behind me for too long, even in traffic...I just continually adjust where I am in a lane to avoid any potential problems from riders/drivers around me...it's the best way to ride IMHO...

+1 If there is a cager directly in front of me or in the next lane, I make it a point to ride such that I can see their face in their side view mirror. If they see me they know I am there, if they are talking on a cellphone/putting make-up on, I will pass them so they see me in front of them. Being visible is the closest thing to safety.

I am so used to people cutting in my lane that I ride with the thinking that all cagers are out to kill me. What pisses me off the most is when someone cuts you off and they realize it and show no remorse. Those are true A-holes!
