Not in a bike but I've run Mahle's in a 496 BB Chevy, 14.7 to 1 compression with 250 hit of spray on them, never an issue. Good parts there.

Mahle is piston "maker" not just a machining operation... We used their stuff in auto racing forever and it was all good.. I would bet their bike parts are good (never used them for bike parts myself)

A lot of places buy "slugs", machine them and box them up under their own name, Mahle is a supplier of these "slugs"

The plus side = Mahle is a very good well established global company

The down side = Mahle is a very good well established global company

In other words, they've got a huge budget, well established industry standard practice. Most likely you'll never have a quality issue with their product. The problem is they're not focused on turbo pistons for motorcycles so you get what ya' get. There are a few companies I like for pistons and Mahle is on that list.

Mahle are some of the best pistons you can get your hands on,especially thier coated ones, definitely worth the extra cash if you have it to spare. As others have said they are not focused on Turbo Busa pistons but im sure thier off the shelf set will be just fine as long as the compression ends up where you want it.You will find thier pistons in everything from F1 cars to weedwackers(seriously).I have always had good luck with JE pistons in motorcycles and street cars, but we used to use Venolia custom units in big inch Outlaw and Promod engines because we could get a custom set fast and they are also top quality,But honestly I have never had a piston failure that was the pistons fault when using any reputable company's units,It can most always be traced back to the tune, the wrong combination,or just getting greedy with the tolerances or power.Just know what you want out of your setup,go with a proven setup and use top name brand stuff and things usually work out pretty well.

Mahle makes good stuff but I question the compression ratio....I mean 9.5-1 compression WITH the .080 spacer is about what you get with stock busa pistons and an .080 spacer..... Ofcourse all those numbers are dependant on deck height, head gasket, chamber CC etc. but still I would think those turbo pistons would be no higher then 9-1. If you can't get the compression below 9.5-1 with a .080 spacer and those pistons, you might as well stay with the stock pistons...they hold 400+hp no problem if there is no detonation and the tune is right.

Just for comparison, My JE turbo pistons worked out to 8.74-1 with a .080 spacer and .010 base gasket.
