Tranny problems

not sure if its a busted gear or a shift fork, but my shift lever will move to select gear but does not spring back to the resting position, if I shift down to first it just lays there. Help with any advice!!!

What year is your bike? How many miles?

Does it do this while your riding? or at a stop?

Engine on? or engine off?

Sounds like a shifter spring! Under the shifter cover below the front sprocket.

Cool thanks guys I will check that out, and by the way its an Gen 1 a 2002. let you know how that comes out.
