i had a slip or hesitation in 2nd gear on my 05 drag busa. Someone on here said to check the tranny. well thats where we are at, every other scenario has been gone through. We do believe that either the dogs are shot or one of the shift forks is bent. thanks for the heads up! Now my next question is how the tranny comes out of the busa. I HAVE NO IDEA! out the bottom or do you have to pull the motor? any advice on this would be greatly appreciated!!!

You have to pull the motor and split the cases.

You need to get yourself a hayabusa service manual. You have to take the motor out the bottom. I just got done rebuilding my motor after I had second gear go out. Good Luck!!!

There is a Service manual online in the Maintenance and Do-It-Yourself

It is an early one but the trans is the same. Clutch, starter, ECU, fuel pump/regulator is the main changes.

I plan on installing tool steel shift shafts if/when I have to do mine. If you have a 8 sec bike, or are using a wheelie bar/slick combo you might look at a HD output shaft while you are in it.

well i just ordered a 2005 service manual off ebay which will help greatly for torque specs on putting this thing back together. Its an 8 second bike and a wheelie bar/slick bike. hopefully by morning i'll have the cases split so i can inspect the transmission. I'm almost positive though that its that shift fork or dogs, either way its going to get race cut while its out!!!

Thanks Winning may have been a fluke though. I'm getting further and furhter back from the lead in Street E/T this year. On the other hand, I am doing better in Pro E/T than last year. Be sure and look me up there. Captain will be there taking pictures and helping out as well. (he cooks a great burger) there are getting to quite a few members here racing the series as well.

I think you'll like the PMRA group. They are a good bunch. But.. be prepared for a hot August race. Are you going to run Super Comp or Pro E/T?

I've worked on a few transmissions over the years, but I've never split a busa before so I don't want to lead you wrong. Someone will chime in I'm sure.

If it disengages on a load in 2nd, Take it to a shop that is reputable no sense in putting a bandaid on a tranny that needs undercutting.
