POSTED: 3:37 pm EDT May 30, 2006
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Police say a North Carolina man accused of hitting a motorcyclist in Myrtle Beach and dragging the man's bike for miles may have been upset over traffic.
Larry Jacobs, 67, of Sugar Grove, North Carolina, is being held without bond charged with assault and battery with intent to kill. Makino Robinson, who is a 27-year-old soldier on leave from Fort Bragg, was struck Sunday morning during the Atlantic Beach Bike Fest.
Witnesses said Jacobs changed lanes and struck Robinson's bike from behind. Robinson reportedly struggled not to be pulled under the car.
Myrtle Beach Police Detective Michael Hull says Jacobs was angry over the traffic congestion caused by the festival.
Robinson's sister says the soldier received bruises and road burns from the incident and is resting at his family's Georgetown County home.
