tensioner update

offending tensioner. The dotted line is where plunger should be and you can see where it is now...not good. The mechanic said they think a detent failed causing it to retract. One thing they did that I thought was kind of dumb, was to crank it over right off the bat, I think I would have had a look see first...they still don't have the heads off yet.

I was able to load the pic and you're right,jim, it does look bad. Wonder what the real cause of that plunger-thingy to retract like that, hmmmmm - maybe it needs a stiffer spring on the other end of the plunger, if there is a spring on the other end.

There is no detent in this design. Most likely the spring broke but, sure would like to take it apart to see. Do you have it?
