THere is a special tool for the nut it cost about 60 bucks. i tried the hammer and punch and ended up chipping into one of the notches. What i did was go to the delearship and have them losen the bolt but not take it out. I had them to this for me and they didnt charge me anything. When i got the new arm in i took it back and they tightened it back up for me. But hell i bought 2 bikes from them so they owed me

if ya wanna get all technical....

buy 2 dollar socket, grind out some grooves, takes 5 minutes.

or , if yer wallets fat...

I believe they are called spanner sockets and yes grinding a socket down once you use a punch and hammer is the easiest way. I have removed MANY and never chipped one so you must be an animal with a hammer.

anyone have a used one of these they want to get rid of, I got dibs on it.

A spanner socket is what it takes. Might find one on a professional tool truck that would work. One of the more common uses for them is on cage front end work.
