I know this has probably been asked a thousand and 1 times, but Im new so bear with me.

Looking to start out with a switch to a 42 rear and see how I like it? Any suggestions???

I do plan some day trips with me and the wife so it will see some 200 mile days and dont wont to ruin the road aspect??

What brand of sprockets and where to buy??

Thanks in advance...

I put a 42 on and you only lose a few mph at the top and a few more hp on the low. i like the diff it made on my bike.

Get a 16 for the front. They are only like $20. And the rear tire is a tad further back with the stock chain instead of shortening it up.

So should I just get the 16/42 set up?? How many RPMS will you turn at crusing speed (say 70mph)???

Your rpm's will be around 4500 at 70 mph with a 16/42 setup ... yes your gas miles per gallon will go down ... probably best to get a speedo healer or yellow box too.

I REALLY want to try a 42 rear sprocket, but I don't want my speedo farther off AND I don't want to spend more $$ for a speedo healer.

Go ahead and try it. Look for a yellowbox in the sale section

I run a 43T rear and am quite satisfied. My gas mileage didn't change and it's like gaining some really cheap horse power. Although you will need a speedometer adjuster of some sort. Your speedo will be off around 8%?

I went 16-41. The speedo was way off. I got a speedohealer. IF your concerned about the freeway I would just do the 16. You will love it down low or if you go to the track.

I just installed the 16/42 and it pulls great but, top end (100MPH) suffers.....At 100 MPH I was looking for another gear

You can beat the #### out of most bikes in roll ons all day......Also got a Speadohealer because the speedo was off big time.

I went with the rear 42t stock front. Speedohealer  set at -13.3 .  I like the added power. Wish I would of tried the 43t but not real happy with the gas mileage. Just cruisin its not to bad 38-40 but if you ride full throttle doin top end runs it just drinks it. 42t some like it some don't. I do like it but just wondering how much of a differance 1t will make.
