re-directing pair hose to crankcase?

hey guys, i was planning to do the marble mod tonight ive been reading alot about the PAIR block off and marble mod lately. I read somewhere earlier that you can re-direct the hose coming from the airbox to the crank case and this in effect would allow your engine to rotate much easier therefore giving you a few extra ponies! Am I on the rifght track here or how does this work? thanks!

forgot one thing, im doing the marble mod because i get popping on decel with my full akropovic. So blocking off the hose with a marble would be blocking off that extra air injecting into my exhaust causing it to run too rich in return backfiring. right?
