R1 front axle option FYI post.

Hi y’all, I see there’s a couple discussions on r1 conversions for Gen 1 and using the chop leg/psycho bike axle for the front wheel. Just wanted to put it out there there is another front axle option that’s still being made. I’m not sure if you can still get a chopleg axle, I could find any recent info on them. The Conversion Axle is used is from MHP out of the UK(they also make rear caliper conversion brackets for Brembo/HEL ect). I got my axle off eBay for about $145 shipped to the states. Very nice axle, worked a charm, has a very clean look and fit/finish to it. Uses a Allen/hex key in the end to tighten it down. Nothing else is different as far as the conversion goes, still used ‘04-‘08 R1 wheels/ bearings, and ‘04-‘06 r1 rotors and ‘04-‘08 r1 front and rear wheel spacers in their respective positions. I used 12 stainless machined thickness washers for spacing my calipers (2 per bolt on the caliper mount bolts). I got those at my local hardware store. I also used a R1 42th vortex 530 rear sprocket. The conversion is a breeze otherwise. Just a bit pricey depending on how you do it.

Looks like they are the same design as Chopleg with the big bolt and washer on the right end and are $180.
