I'm a stock oil and filter guy here. I used to run Mobil One, but decided that Mr. Suzuki stuff would be just fine.

My experience regarding engine oil in my 06 LE is limited to Honda GN4, Maxima Premium 4, Spectro 4, and Amsoil. I rate them (in order of preference), Amsoil, Maxima, Spectro, then GN4. My criteria (since I cannot reasonable measure wear or other factors) is purely how it affects the shifting. Amsoil seems to allow the bike to shift cleaner (hot or cold weather) better than the others I have used.

I've always used the OEM oil filters.

Well I'm going to go try and find some amsoil tomorrow and if I can't I guess ill just get Suzuki this time and order it for the next change. The break in came a little faster then I thought it would.

Another favorite is Mobil 1 Racing 4T, readily available in many stores.

You'll be fine with the Suzuki 10w-40 - it has one of the nicer additive packs of the mineral based oils. Boosted up more than some of the synthetics out there.

Boron 192
Magnesium 22
Calcium 1719
Phosphorus 1123
Zinc 1224
Silicone 22
Viscosity @ 100c 14.03

Here's that Amsoil 10w-40 add pack

Moly 44
Magnesium 19
Calcium 3080
Phosphorus 1238
Zinc 1323

Mobil bike oil 10w-40 has more more anti-wear and it is at Walmart for $8.99

Moly 60
Magnesium 15
Calcium 2800
Phosphorus 1660
Zinc 1710

It's all I've ran in my '06 36K miles and my '08 18K miles. Got 4 quarts and a filter in the closet waiting.

If you want an exotic here's what i use . Onoffroad.com and sometimes motorcyclesuperstore has the deals on it.

Maxima Maxum Extra 4 10w-40 and their 15w-50 - note the top treat of phosphorus anti-wear - Maxima's 10w-40 syn blend is top treated as well and i believe it uses antinomy , but not certain.

The antinomy is just about crush proof . Used in some Formula 1 racing oils.

Antinomy 1025
Magnesium 640
Calcium 700
Phosphorus 3400
Zinc 2700
